Went for the 5th time this past weekend. In my opinion, the best steakhouse in Louisiana.

My wife had the House filet, awesome. I had the ribeye topped with crabmeat and bernaise, awesome.

Side: creamed spinach was perfect.

Appetizers: McIlheney Oysters, unreal
Fried Portobello mushrooms, very good

Desert: wife had the blueberry ice cream, very good.

Overall: Solid A as usual. The service was an A+ as usual.

Love that oyster app and the turtle soup. Steaks are unreal and I have never had a bad meal.

My cousin, Charles, runs the restaurant. I went for the first time this past Sunday for my birthday. I'm around seafood pretty often so I tend to stay away from it at other places. Everything I ate, from the softshell to the bbq and the oysters in chipotle was outstanding. I had the New york strip and although it wasn't as flavourful as the bone in ribeye it was by far one of the best steaks I've eaten. I sampled a bit of everything on the menu and could not find a single item that needed improvement.

It's good for New Orleans, but no match for places like Peter Luger's, Del Frisco's, Del Monico (Las Vegas), etc...

A few good cuts with most of the usual sides and appetizers for a steakhouse along with a few local dishes.

IMO, it needs to seriously step up both it's wine list and wine service. Boring list with no mid-range values and the reds actually get slightly cooler after being open for 20 minutes or so. God knows where and at what temperature they're stored.

Peter Luger's

The most overrated restuarant I have ever been to. I have been twice, the service was ho-hum at best and the side dishes were terrible. I think that Mr John's is much better and Ruth's is more than comprable. Peter Luger's is perhaps the most overrated restuarant in the country.

You get no argument from me. Seriously, Peter Lugers was average at best. I really want to try David Burkes's Prime in Chicago. Chicago just might be better than NYC in terms of food in the US. To me that is heresy, but it might be true.

I need to make it up there....business takes us up there a bunch, but I have not been lucky yet.

I have been to NYC over 20 times. I miss it all the time.

My favorite cut, by far. I just found their attitude and in particular their sides dishes completely lacking in comparison to what I am accustomed to. It was IMO very disappointing.

One of the rare occasions in which we disagree.

No problemo. I just felt the build-up did not justify the end result. People have had bad experiences at the French Laundry. No big deal IMO.

Love Dickie's my favorite steakhouse in the city. Has the Louisiana character that Ruth's has abandoned in its corporate-hungry expansion. Have fun in Orlando Mortons/Smith &Wollenskys/insert generic steakhouse chain here.

Yep.

This is why Dickie Brennans or Mr. Johns will always get my business before Ruth's.

I thought The Pelican Club had an excellent filet mignon when I tried it a few weeks ago.

But you should definitely do Besh Steak one of these days.
