You guys are so short sighted. This is a local OOC game that is like a home game. We get 40,000 tickets to sell and sell them out. We make more money off of this one than any other road trip because it is just 75 miles away. It is a easy road game to the big easy for all the fans. It is the only other college venue in Louisiana that can handle the LSU crowd. But god forbid that we assist Tulane in making any money whatsoever.

Lets just schedule a bunch of games against ULL and ULM and Southeastern and La. Tech that no one will attend and no one will give a shite about.

This is the one game that brings out the real jealousy and ugly side of the LSU fans. I just don't understand it. At least they are a mid major and have a nice stadium.

This is really proving to get in the way. Play them once every 5 years.

God please let us drop Tulane. I refuse to even watch the game on TV.

LSU vs. Tulane football series on rocks?

Posted by Tammy Nunez, Times-Picayune July 27, 2009 2:48PM
Categories: Football, Tulane - LSU
Atlanta Journal Constitution's Tony Barnhardt wrote a blog today that indicates Tulane and LSU will not play each other next season, busting up the 10-year series that was put together in 2005.

Michael DeMocker/The Times-Picayune
LSU's football series agaInst Tulane could be in jeopardy. The teams are scheduled to play Oct. 30th in 2010 according to Tulane's schedule, but LSU has that date listed as "TBA".

Times-Picayune reporter and former Tulane beat reporter Ted Lewis predicted this in a blog earlier this year and it has been expected that LSU will make a solo or joint announcement of the series' cancellation.

LSU officials weren't willing to make an announcement recently and Tulane has no comment it.

This has nothing to do with the location or the money involved. In years that we play them at the Superdome, we only have 6 home games. LSU isn't going to drop down to 5 a year to play a better team.

This setup has created problems for LSU this year and looks like it will in 2010 and 2011.

LSU needs 6 games a year at TS, minimum and this home/home with Tulane is preventing us from scheduling more games with BCS opponents.

If LSU breaks the contract, they have to pay Tulane damages. Pure and simple.

How about we.....

1. ONLY PLAY THEM WHEN THE NCAA mandates it.. ie post season...

2. PAY THEM OFF AND MOVE ON>. I would gladly pay more for my season tickets and get ONE less home game every year and PLAY A LEGIT opponent - that actually has fans....

3. outside of N.O. Nobody gives a rats ball sack's sweat over tulane...

4. We should not play them in any varsity sport including baseball..

I dont think we should ever schedule anyone that long of a series. I like how Bama does it.

2010 Penn State at Bama
2011 Bama at Penn State
2012 Georgia Tech at Bama
2013 Bama at Georgia Tech
2014 Michigan State at Bama
2015 Bama at Michigan State

A good OOC game every year and home and home. A different good OOC team every two years.

actually from what i understand....LSU may not owe tulane any damages if we don't play next year....

LSU has several outs some of which were changes made by LSU or the SEC to the tentative schedules - which is what the 2010 schedule is at this point... LSU can manipulate it's schedule much easier than tulane can....

and this game with UNC in atlanta fits the criteria of the allowable changes - it is not LSU's fault tulanes other opponents such as curtis, grace king, shaw and south plaq.. will not change dates to accomodate them....

Drop the Slime? And what, wouldn't yall miss seeing that awesome Tulane marching band every year? They're just like watching The Cavaliers in their green uniforms and much more entertaining than seeing the massive A + M Aggie band doing the military drill thing in Tiger Stadium. .......

I agree, and FWIW I would love to see Penn St. on our schedule home and home.
