State Police Cafeteria

A couple of my coworkers picked up lunch from there today. I had no idea there was even a cafeteria there. What can y'all tell me about it?

I once ate at the Angola Prison cafeteria and thought they had some of the best fried chicken and rolls I had ever eaten.

No doubt in my mind that it's true - think about it - the people in Angola have an awful lot of time to perfect whatever new trade they'd like to take up.

I have eaten there a few times due to the close proximity to my work. It's hit or miss on the seasoning, but the quality was good for the price/portion size.

It's at the State Police Training Academy on Independence Blvd. It's a good value. Wednesday is fried chicken day. Some good chicken.

Not eating would be unhealthy. These folks make it taste good in an effort to lure you into eating it thus prolonging your life. Healthy.

State Police has some of the best home cooking I've ever had. Fried chicken, greens, mashed potatoes, etc. All killer stuff. I'd stay away on Fridays. Kind of a mix of things I don't care for like baked chicken, meatloaf, etc.

My mom is a court reporter and she would have to go to prisons sometimes for depositions. She told me it was some of the best food!

I have eaten at the Plaquemines Parish Prison before. Not bad. BUT the best came from the small building out back by the old courthouse. There a single trustie used to cook up some pretty good lunches.
