Thrilling, glamorous, richly textured and breathlessly action-packed, it is one of the best movies of the year.

Pretty good review. I can't wait to see it. I did see something I liked though:

I'm definitely expecting this to be good.

How many more diverse roles does Johnny Depp have to nail before he cements himself as the #1 actor of his generation. I'm talking about being thought of in the same breath as Deniro, Brando, Bogart, Grant, etc. Personally, I already think he's there. His range in unbelievable.

I agree completely. He can play anything.

Nobody does better with guns in a movie than Michael Mann.

Good to hear, this looks solid.

Daniel Day-Lewis #1 in my book of recent memory with Depp being second.

He's not there yet. Not close.

It had very good acting along with numerous other things. My beef with it though is it is so drawn out and long. That made it drop down a few points in my book.

It was a Michael Mann movie.
Great to look at, solid acting, stylistic as all get out and not very engaging.
Depp is great, but I don't get that this role demonstrates his range. He could have done this in his sleep.
The contrast of old school gangster vs. modernization both by the FBI and the mob was an interesting angle.
And Christian Bale, i'm about to dust off the word "wooden" for you. I don't know if it's because you play these intense, humorless characters or maybe you're just intense and humorless. Either way, you need to find a part that reminds us you're human.
I'm still undecided if I thought this movie was good. I guess the fact that I'm still thinking about it is a point in its favor.

I agree with you guys, I liked the movie, but it had its slow parts. Who was the chick, she made me tingle inside. Has she been in anything else noteworthy?
