I'm getting married in 13 days. The Sunday after the Washington game. It's a small wedding at the home we've shared for ten years in sin.

After working my arse off for the last eight weekends getting every single thing in the house and in the yard in tip-top shape, this weekend I was really worn down.

So yesterday, I'm sweating buckets replanting an azalea my dog just dug up and she brings me a beer and says, "look at it this way, come kick-off you will have done every honey-do imaginable." "You can sit on your arse and watch football from gameday until the wee hours the entire football season."

I had to give her a

Of course, it could have just been a ploy to keep me working. They're crafty that way.

You'd have to cut me. We call it "Happy Hour" and scarf up all the goodies and then head on over the beer/wine dept. They pretty much have to give you a taste of what they're pouring, and it's usually something good. Or several somethings good.

But, yeah, that place can get seriously jammed up on the weekend.

I think the first half of Wall-E is the greatest animated film ever made.

+1.

I have it DVR'd in my bedroom. Sometimes when I wake up and can't fall back to sleep, I watch the first half. It's so absorbing and with so little sound. Simply beautiful.

Thanks. I'm going to dvr this one. I haven't seen it.

Cue idiots wondering why Nic Cage wasn't mentioned.
I loved it too. Back before Robert Conrad became a parody with that stupid "knock the battery off my shoulder" commercial.
Not on the list:

No Country for Old Men
Children of Men
Pan's Labyrinth
The Royal Tenenbaums
25th Hour
Oh Brother Where Art Thou
The Incredibles
Bubba Ho-Tep

ETA: How could I forget Old Boy?

It might actually make my top ten. Thought provoking, visually stunning... It's fantastic.

The first season is hilarious.
I finally got around to trying the Vanilla Porter. I have come to the conclusion that I am only a fan of vanilla when it is ice cream. It was not my favorite.
I had a Westmalle Dubbel this weekend that had a pronounced grape taste. This was only my second one ever, but I didn't recall the first one having that flavor. It was almost like a port.

I had teh little woman taste it too for confirmation. Were my taste buds off kilter, or is that the expected dominate note?

What, you aren't moved by the drama unfolding in Brook Knows Best?

Seriously though, I'm more bothered by the people who dismiss movies like The Godfather, much less older, slightly more obscure films.

I can avoid the reality threads. Ignorant posts in otherwise interesting threads are sometime unavoidable.
Not unforgiveable. You provided a great list in a short time. Plus, it's reminded me I need to break out of the stout/IPA pattern I'm currently in.

Re: Meantime London Porter, I found a local retailer. I'm trying to decide if I'm going to drive accross the metroplex to pick it up. It's that good?
You need a Russian Imperial Stout category as well. Old Rasputin and Victory Storm King deserve at least some love.
I haven't seen it in years, but I recall it being very good. I need to revisit it.

You two should continue to both champion older films. I think the lack of response is directly related to the general film ignorance on this board.

And though I don't typically reply in those threads, I have used them as guides.

So cheers boys and keep 'em coming.
It's because redemption is one of the best story lines in sports.

They're already imagining how the story will write itself should (godforbid) JJ get hurt and Lee comes in and throws like a champ.

WTF are the guns shooting? Jesus bullets? Angel ammunition?
