President Trump has instructed aides to prepare for an extended blockade of Iran, U.S. officials said, targeting the regime’s coffers in a high-risk bid to compel a nuclear capitulation Tehran has long refused.

In recent meetings, including a Monday discussion in the Situation Room, Trump opted to continue squeezing Iran’s economy and oil exports by preventing shipping to and from its ports. He assessed that his other options—resume bombing or walk away from the conflict—carried more risk than maintaining the blockade, officials said.

For now, Trump is comfortable with an indefinite blockade, which he wrote Tuesday on Truth Social is pushing Iran toward a “State of Collapse.” A senior U.S. official said the blockade is demonstrably crushing Iran’s economy—it is straining to store its unsold oil—and sparked fresh outreach by the regime to Washington.

This is a good move in my opinion. Iran is already running out of room for their oil. Oil shut ins are a disaster for them

If we're not actually undoing their chokehold on the strait, isn't this going to blow the global economy to pieces?

Are you aware of the immense difference in shipping costs between sea and land transport?

Iranian oil shipped over land would have to be sold at a loss using market prices

Iranian oil lost will be replaced by other sanctioned oil coming back online and an increase from former opec members.

They would have to sell it at or near their lifting costs. They are toast.

This is a logistically retarded take and you should feel bad.
Do you not understand how oil tankers work vs rail cars, tanker trucks?
This is up there with the “we don’t need farms, we get our food from the grocery store.”

Trump is rubbing salt in an open wound by forwarding this statement to Iran.

We can talk about opening the strait when we get our hands on the enriched uranium.

Start digging fools!

Waiting on RFK to come in this tread and claim the blockade will fail because the “dry season” has started in Iran.
