The Mall of LA. They were implying there must be a connection to the cut funding and the murder since he was a part of the program.
Junior must of ran out of things to do, so he went on a shooting rampage. What a pathetic propaganda news outlet.

I doubt lack of “after school programs” would have convinced this 17 year old man not to respond to a dispute with a loaded firearm.
I can reasonably assume there were many other factors at play, probably starting years (if not generations) ago.

We just need more programs

giving criminals other avenues to "vent" doesn't stop the criminal behavior....
....i was just a few weeks back where we had a shooting and death at a church that opened their BB court up for the community to play....
only thing that works to lower the criminal activity is removing the criminal from the streets......(incarceration for those that road the short bus)

Main stream media: keeping the black man in the chains of victimhood.

Some kids, when deprived of an after school program go play video games or pickup basketball at the park. Some go steal stuff and kill people. We should imprison the ones who steal stuff and kill people, especially when they fire a loaded automatic weapon at school.

People actually believe that midnight basketball and slam poetry events reduce violent crime.

Yea cutting funding to a program that is nothing more than a slush fund for state politicians where maybe 1-5% of the money gets to it's intended recipients is the main cause of black violence!

No different that any of them these days.
This yout, was probably a lost cause by the age of 7 or 8, judging by my experience in and around cultcha in ratchet city.
Baton Rouge is primarily a democrat run city. Any time a republican gets elected it's an excuses to blame their policies and the mess they have created on someone other then themselves. In response to an earlier thread, Heller Moore is a big part of the problem. He talks a lot but does nothing. Liz Murrill needs to push Moore to get off his arse and put these animals in prison.

Not surprising from WBRZ. They’re liberal hack jobs.

Midnight basketball programs weren’t going to stop this. Stop making excuses WBRZ. No politician can solve this problem. Its the absence of a solid family structure along with no real consequences that lead to this. Everybody on this board could describe what these young men would look like, and what their background was before ever seeing a pic.

Some of us lived back when Black families were functional, responsible and virtuous. Many still are. Many aren’t. And our communities lived and played together in peace; even as schools were segregated. Proud Black Fathers in the home raised their children to be righteous and respectful so as to stick a finger in the eye of ‘Jim Crow’ racists who deemed Blacks as less able to be equally competent as members of civil society.
Along came Johnson with his Great Society political bs and “we’ll own the n%^%#r vote for the next hundred years”, and how many have died and suffered spiritual calamity ever since. Wicked evil stuff. I hope he repented when he looked down from on high and clearly saw what he had done. That or the ‘Pit’.
IMO, qualified subsidies should be provided to low income families whose fathers work and live in the house and raise virtuous children and not single mothers who have children for $. It is suicidal if not evil to do otherwise as those psychologically impaired women cannot overcome their sickness. I probably couldn’t either if born in their place. And less wisdom rules, it will end in a bad way when the system implodes and it goes to the streets.
“Pride goeth before the fall”. Lowered standards and lesser expectations for Black people from high minded Whites IS racism. A wolf in sheep’s clothing as it were; good intentions nws. Political correctness has killed millions, and set us on a course for future societal backlash and conflict on a large scale.
It’s a shame that the truth cannot be spoken as that is the only hope for non-violence solutions. I pray that Black pastors step up, but given false pride and the Communist strategy of DEI-based class and race division re divide and conquer, I don’t see it happening. Sadly so.
Runaway train!

Can’t throw money at culture.

As a Gen X-er.....we had zero programs. What were our programs? Go home on a school bus and do your homework.
But apparently, if you don't have a YMCA or gym membership from 3:30 to 6 pm....you gotta go kill some folks at a mall according to NBR and others.

But the shooting happened during school hours? Why weren't these young scholars in school?

Progressive sociopaths like those at WBRZ will do anything to protect their foot soldiers.
