Points to ponder - regarding violent criminals roaming freely among us.

I wonder what percentage of crimes are committed by people that 30-40 years ago would not have been roaming freely among us today.
I mean a kid brings a gun to school and it goes off in class, he enrolls in another school and is out with not so much as an ankle monitor(which that is also a failed tactic) put them in tent cities if we don't have enough jail space. Where in the constitution does it say we are due 3 good hot meals a day?
Given the lengthy record of the shitstain charged with murder this week it is also very clear the juvenile justice system is beyond and abject failure. A criminal record is no longer a scarlet letter but a badge of honor.
At some point in time America needs to have had enough of violent criminals and criminals that simply cost us money and start removing people from society that can't function in our society.
It is also long past the time to stop blaming society for what starts at home.
Jails and prisons should be miserable - equal to if not greater than the misery caused upon society by the criminals.
My personal reference ... when a multi convicted felon gets caught hunting at night, with no hunting license, 3 stolen guns(only 1 was mine a gorgeous double barrell that was by then sawed off). 3 different illegal drugs, trespassing and in a stolen vehicle.
The only charge that stayed as it was were the game law violations.
Everything else plead down to dang near misdemeanors -
I am sorry but the cost of more prison space is far less than the cost of these miscreants on our and to our society.
It's long past the time to turn back the clock and go old school justice.

If there was even a hint of severe repercussions then a lot of the crime would be slowed imo. There is no fear anymore.

The violent crime rate was significantly higher 30-40 years ago, there just were no cell phones or social media so no one saw it in HD

I get that the hope is that people that are arrested as juveniles will turn their life around and become a productive member of society, so the system is soft on them. If you set up a criteria to measure what it means to become a productive member of society, what percentage of juveniles arrested ever achieve that? The unfortunate answer is that juveniles need to be treated like hardened criminals since there is no hope using the current slap on the wrist system.

We’ve allowed progressives to convince us that holding people to standards of behavior is unfair and/or racist and/or judge mental. We’ve also allowed them to convince idiots that locking up people for breaking laws is racist if they are a certain demographic.

They should just drop them off on St Lawrence Island , AK and say "Welcome to your new home; Survive or die." Either that or build a giant wall around Death Valley National Park and drop them off behind the wall with the same survive or die concept.

That’s 1986-1996, not the 60’s-70’s like you’re probably thinking. US homicide rate peaked around 1991.

Because of gang wars when crack exploded. Crime in normal areas is more pervasive, which is what people care about.

Allow me to correct a few statements:
America has had enough a long time ago. They're afraid of fringe groups and liberal instigators pointing them out and ruining their lives. The few have outweighed the good of the many long ago and are ruling by fear.

My memory from my youth was violent crime was relegate to certain (not by race) neighborhoods and areas.
What is different today is the violence that is anywhere, anytime, anyplace....
as bad as the east had become by late 80s nobody got shot in that mall.
