Anybody caught this yet? Just released. I just finished it last night. 4 episodes long. Starts with his youth all the way up to the end. They filmed this right before his passing. Thought it was pretty good. Of course they had to play up his relationship with Trump as a negative.

I’m Team Vince on the Montreal screw job. You leave the company you have to drop the strap first. It’s a small world. Swallow your pride and don’t burn that bridge.

Bret Hart

I never watched Hart in the WWF, but I was watching WCW when he came over, and he was incredibly boring and an absolute black hole of personality on TV. Maybe his heart just wasn't in it anymore at that point, but I never got what was supposed to be so special about him.

I'm assuming they brought Bret on to whine about Hogan "burying" him in WCW? I mean, listening to the guy talk for 30 seconds will make you wanna side with Hogan here.

Hogan was a selfish POS behind the scenes, I agree with that. He wanted all the spotlight on him, but then again, he had the credentials to back it up. Directly responsible for the two biggest popularity booms in the history of the business.

It does seem like he’s always complaining about someone or something whenever I come across an interview with him.

Bret was my favorite wrestler growing up. frick all the haters. The Excellence of Execution. He has been pretty bitter in his old age, I can’t argue that . A lot of his hate towards certain wrestlers is warranted though, like that no talent arse clown Goldberg for example.

And yeah Hogan was a supreme selfish POS behind the scenes and helped frick over a lot of wrestlers over time. At the same time, hard to blame him because he helped launch wrestling into the stratosphere. Still love the Hulkster though! He’s an American icon.

That's always the narrative like he never wanted to help anyone besides himself yet he had no issues putting wrestlers over like The Giant, Goldberg, Ultimate Warrior, The Rock (twice), Kurt Angle, etc. and he was also instrumental in helping Sting get clean.

It's funny most of the people who whined about Hogan burying talent during that era did the same when they got a push. It's as if he didn't want to do the job for people who didn't deserve it nine times out of ten...

People use the 2000 Bash at the Beach incident as a prime example but absolutely positively no one wanted to see the belt on Jarrett back then but he was Russo's pal and got the buddy treatment. Dude was a meh lower mid-carder, jumps to WCW and is suddenly elevated to main event status? Nah. People would have scolded Hogan for refusing to do the job for David Arquette if he was in the situation.

Was a good documentary. Probably a bit of a puff piece but overall I liked it.

Hogan put over Warrior and Warrior was utter trash.

And Jarrett was way worse and couldn’t even compete with the WCW cruiser weight division.

Hart does seem like a miserable person. When he dies and they do a documentary every one they interview will say “yeah he was technically a good wrestler an really took care of his partners, but goodness was he miserable”

Well the thing is, hogan was a huge star, not just a wrestling star. So yeah of course he was going to do everything he could to maintain and protect the aura of that character.

I watched this and it brought back memories. I was walking down the street in Chicago back in the mid 80s in an area called Rush st. He came out of a bar in front of me with his entourage and I couldn't believe how large/wide he was. Everyone kind of parted out of the way in front of him. He was an absolute mammoth of a man.

Not sure why this guy is a deal on everything. I remember being a young BabyTac and huge wrestling fan. Always thought his act was boring but we were supposed to love him for his generational crap. Get off my TV!

I wanted to hate and love Hogan so many times which is probably why he made the sport. Vince knew it as well. Just had that ‘it’ factor. Going NWO just cemented his legacy. You couldn’t not like the guy.

I remember when his family had the reality show on MTV or something. It didn’t end well, but even then he seemed like a great dad and good guy.

Watched it. Hogan was a POS human being who admits he ruined careers and holding other wrestlers back from success. His backstage politics makes him a laughable joke. “That doesn’t work for me brother”

The guy had a ton of charisma no doubt but he tried to stay in the spotlight way too long and ruined his body and eventually his life.

Hogan reluctantly put over Warrior and even tried to steal the spotlight by hanging around in the ring after he lost.

Randy Savage was 100% right about Hogan. He was a piece of shite.

Ehhh…here’s the thing with the Montreal Screwjob story. WWE whitewashed the narrative behind it for years and it wasn’t “Bret didn’t wanna lose in Canada.” He didn’t want to lose to Shawn because they hated each other, and problems simmered throughout the year including Shawn cutting a promo insinuating Bret was sleeping with Sunny (Bret’s wife and kids were watching at home).

Bret knew he was leaving, Vince felt guilty about reneging on Bret’s contract & somewhat helped score a better deal with WCW. The only thing was that Bret had to lose to Shawn. Bret agreed and went up to Shawn in the locker room to put all the bullshite behind them and Shawn basically spit in Bret’s face and told him he’d never return any favors to Bret. After this Bret went to Vince and was like “frick him, figure something else out.” And that’s the real life version of what started the Montreal Screwjob. Both Jim Cornette and Jim Ross verified this.

Bret Hart in 1997 was wildly entertaining and his best work. Reuniting the Hart Foundation as a heel Anti-America group was gold.

Real ones know that USA vs Canada feud was the real start of the Attitude Era

He sucked in WCW
