Kinda side track but hoping our team took a look at Jalen Dugger from the Ragin Cajuns..

Hes a big physical linebacker that played in a meh Sunbelt defense. He strikes me as a Kayden Elliss type who gets picked up for special teams and eventually ends up being a valuable player

I think you should go to bed. Perkins is pretty awful with 0 position in the NFL or even college.

He's to small for DE or LB, and cant decipher plays enough to play safety. His game film besides Arkansas once every 3 years is abysmal. Takes off too many plays, and to be honest, looks lost any time he has to play anything besides blitz, or spy.

Wanna see something funny? Go watch Nichols from 2024. Perkins gets bullied the entire game by D2 TEs and Lineman. It gets so bad, he throws a punch that isnt flagged. We take Perkins out and put Weeks in and the next 2 drives are 3 and outs. Our very first 3 and outs of the game BTW. We put Perkins back in and they drive 60 yards and score another TD.

I've been breaking down game film for 3 years on Perkins because I never saw what so many LSU fans did. Like the guy, but his entire skill set is see ball, get ball, which isn't a position at any level besides high school. He relied on his elite athleticism to make plays but could never rely on his brain for anything. Not saying the guy isn't intelligent, but it's obvious he has 0 idea how to play anything besides blitz, spy, or man coverage.

Yes, he can occasionally bend the edge and get a big sack. But more often than not he's getting blocked by a TE or OT 20 yards downfield. He has no idea how to disengage; he has no power to break initial contact and has to come through FREE to make any real impact, something that didnt happen once teams had game film on him until Arkansas once again allowed it to happen.

So what’s your NFL projection for Perkins?

He’s not nearly as explosive since he tore his ACL and it showed last year. He also has no instincts.

What does he do actually?
Pass rusher?
LB?
Star?

Special team guy Someone will take a late round flyer on him possibly, but he doesn't have a full-time role at the next level. He may come in on some exotic blitz packages if he finds himself on one of those teams, but I wouldnt expect a lot or production until he figures out how to break initial contact. He gets out muscled quite a bit.

I said since his freshman year that he needed to play in the box safety, which was sort of the star role. He just doesnt understand zone concepts, like at all. It's really concerning that a 4th year guy can't understand even basic zone concepts with a coach like Baker out there.

To be perfectly frank, I'm more excited to see Bakers defense WITHOUT Perkins than I am with him on the sidelines. I think Perkins actually limited what Baker can do and what schemes he can come up with.

Nope, hes not strong enough to play DE.

LB?

He doesn't have the instincts to play LB, and to be honest, once again not strong enough.

Star?

Not a position for 95% of the teams in the NFL. Only a few teams play with an in the box safety anymore, and most teams are getting away from it to fight the growing spread up tempo offenses. Bend dont break defenses.

Which is why anyone would draft him. He really doesn't fit any known position. I'm sure someone will figure it out, but they aren't going to draft him to find out.

Being a LSU fan first taught me to expect nothing from Harold Perkins.

Dudes are slightly more accomplished equally disappointing Arik Gilbert

This 1000%. And when he can’t do that he pouts and jogs after the ball carrier. I made a point of watching him in the Vandy game and he could have stopped their QB from scoring, but chose not too because trash. He’s awful.

He seems like a player the Bucs would draft. I wouldn’t be surprised if they did.

The new trend is the constant 3 safety formation with LB/S hybrids as the 3rd safety

ETA: Perkins doesn't have the height/lankiness like the types who are filling this role though
