...All I heard last year was the National Guard was coming, and now all I hear are gunshots and sirens 24x7....When is the Federal Government going to step in to this shithole city and do something about the low IQ animals and thugs destroying this once peaceful town...

I remember a time when people down here hated the federal government and said we should never ask the federal government for help with anything. Yet here we are…

No, it hasn't been that long since Baton Rouge was safe. The 80's it got pretty bad but it got cleaned up after that. Then when Kip got out of office and we started getting these idiots and the Mayor's office that just gave everything away and catered to the welfare dummies, the rest of it went down the toilet. Broome got rid of the police force.....I mean, yeah, Baton Rouge was a great place to grow up.I hate to tell you it was after Katrina and the influx of culture it became a complete disaster.

no, you don’t hate to tell me this - you love to say it

Instead of saying that BR has always had a thug element, let’s just blame Katrina because it’s easier.

No way can Baton Rouge admit we have two universities that glorify thug culture and that for decades the city of BR has been more than half black - but it’s the blacks from New Orleans that ruined BR.

Crime has been concentrated to north BR for decades but with school choice, white flight, and the expansion of busses- the thug element is now scattered all over the city.

But it’s the New Orleans people, like you, GreenRockTiger, that ruined Baton Rouge. Right. I’ve heard it. It’s not true, but I’ve heard it many times.

Actually - all the blacks I know that were in Baton Rouge and Houston went back to New Orleans before 2015. Lucky them.

Baton Rouge is past the point of the national guard being able to help. Probably need thermonuclear weapons.

What are army soldiers doing to do to stop crime in BR?

Seriously. Will they stand on corners in north Baton Rouge? They can stand downtown like they do in the French quarter, but that’s not stopping the neighborhood thugs, it’s just keeping them out of downtown.

Yeah, that's pathetic.

What Baton Rouge needs is old west justice. Deputize a bunch of rednecks and let them work.

It is true though. Baton Rouge changed for the worse overnight after Katrina.

You don't think that forcing two groups of YN's to be close to each other could cause more problems when neither group can behave on their own?

Southern University shouldn't exist, and LSU was absolutely fine until fricking Fitzgerald dumbed it down so more blacks could get in.

Which is why St George exists.

It is.

First hand experience with baton rouge changing post Katrina.

And every city that received thugs from New Orleans said they were a different breed of criminal.

Nobody loves to say it, but Katrina was absolutely a significant factor in accelerating the demise of Baton Rouge.

Anyone that believes this wasn't reading the Advocate or driving up Plank road, or near the plants in the 90s. Fools.

I think they went to New Orleans.

I'm okay with the guard assisting ICE in their efforts to deport people. But the local police need to step up and do their job.

Baton rouge was rough pre katrina in certain areas only , but New Orleans was an epic shithole with crime scattered even near its good areas

After Katrina, many of the people that made Nola an epic shithole moved to Br making both Nola and Br an epic shithole with crime all over

That make you happier?
