Seen elsewhere and I found it interesting:

Legacy GOP is too invested in playing the role of defensive opposition. The passage of mandated voter ID would make a long term Republican majority a real possibility. Such a situation would cause a lot more primary losses for incumbent candidates since GOP voters could finally focus on more than just simply beating the Democrat in an election and be forced to actually vet candidates in the primary for real change.

Like I said, the GOP is happiest being a backseat driver.

This is correct, the GOP prefers to be the minority party so they can pretend to support things their constituents want but don't have to actually enact them.

It's theater. Both parties pull in the same direction where their puppet masters desire and past that, it's largely empty fighting over empty ideologies. The GOP particularly is philosophically bankrupt. Look at the overall trend of the nation in the last half century. 4 Presidents from the dems, 5 from the GOP. Debt and spending have steadily increased, wars and "conflicts" under every one save Carter, federal bloat, new unelected agencies created that impede citizen rights, intelligence agencies running wild, corruption and insider trading... both parties. Washington DC is one big get rich quick scheme and we're the suckers for playing their bullshite game.

It is more profitable for the establishment GOPe politicians to be in the minority under Democrats than to be the majority, but with MAGA/America First type candidates overtaking their party and instituting reforms.

Imagine if there were term limits so politicians would worry about what is best for the people instead of how to get elected.

.....or you could have rule by the bureaucrats with term limits. As bad as the current system is it's better than one with federal term limits.

I saw a stat this week that said their fundraising is higher we. They can blame Democrats for nothing getting done than when the fingers for inaction all point to them. I was sort of surprised most people are bright enough to realize this tbh.

And make no mistake, Cocaine Mitch annointed Thune with one simple instruction. Impede everything Trump tries. It’s why SAVE died on his desk and his keeping the Senate in session to keep there from being any recess appointments are but two of his more notable accomplishments.

As fractured and unhinged as the Democratic Party is today, they still 100% vote in lockstep on EVERYTHING

It’s simple, they’re compromised. Honeypotted, bribed or threatened….
No more complicated than that. So are all the democrats…

That explanation seems plausible. It certainly fits with the perception that they like losing and playing second fiddle to the Democrats.

It would be great if Christians could actually have realistic opportunities for electing godly leaders.

Similar to being asked at work to train your replacement.

This bill would assist the people ineliminating some of those enriched legislators from their jobs.
