I understand we missed on portal additions but we brought back enough from last year to be better than this. Just surprised man. You brought back your entire outfield, shortstop, and arms who got a lot of experience last year from a championship team. We shouldn’t be this bad but I guess it happens.

It's as if bad play is like cancer it spreads to everyone no matter how good they are. That's why it's a team sport.

There is a lot of disappointment to be sure.

Pre-season ranked what #2? So, the media and coaches thought we had the players.

Still have a chance to turn the light switch on, but so far, this is Jay's worst coaching job since being here.

The talent gap between LSU and A&M feels like what you would expect from an SEC powerhouse to a Southland Conference team. I don’t understand how this happened

Or the media and coaches totally missed on the strength of the pitching staff after losing 2 of the top pitchers in the nation after last year. Plus, losing all but 1 infielder is definitely not ideal.

We don’t have a leader.

Milam is checked out, Stanfield was out most of the year when the team was finding its identity, Brown is a great player but he just isn’t that guy.

Just think, next year they have to replace Milam, Brown, and Curiel.
And throw in Stanfield and they have to replace the whole outfield.

Somehow they have to get some guys like William Patrick and Harden some run. Some sec experience would do them wonders for next season.

This situation only exists because of the lack of leadership on this roster. Guidry has tried to be the “spark plug” but that shite clearly never landed…most of the guys look defeated when things are tough and there isn’t anyone in the dugout/field to snap them out of it

Yep. Once the mental discouragement sets in, (And you don't have player leaders with amped up personalities), it's extremely difficult to right the ship.

Vast majority of errors have come from transfers or guys new to the lineup…2nd base 1st base and catcher being the main culprits with 3rd base not far behind. All players new to the full time lineup.

As one of my ol' bosses put it, "My best moments in aviation history were recovering from my worst."

To this point Jay hasn't done the best. Mostly IMO, because he doesn't know his pitchers.

To salvage this season, Jay is gonna have to do his best coaching yet.

Jay basicaly admitted what alot of posters have been saying. We whiffed on the portal and we let 3 or4 players leave that were better than what we got. Neal, Costello, Ryan, Larson being allowed to leave was arrogant of the coaching staff. They thought they could and would do much better in the portal. The portal is a double edged sword. It can Hurt just as easy as it can help. We are seeing that this year. It will be critical for the program for Jay and Yeskie to have a good off season in talent evaluation and bringing in the proper players. As always the base and foundation of LSU needs to be Lousiana kids. The state produces great ball players and more than that they grow up dreaming of playing for the Tigers. That desire and dream is what gives players the fire and passion we need to win championships. Every Title we have won we did so with a lot of contribution from local kids that were leasders in the clubhouse and on the field. Cant get away from that. Our success starts at home

And need a whole new OF plus a SS,2B, and 1B and a weekend starter. Braun might move to OF

But coming back you have

Evans
Schmidt
Braun
Yamin
Pearson
Bide
Serna

So you do have some pieces to build around.

Their mindset is stuck. No sure anyone can break it and get on a run.
