Was just thinking about the Frostop in downtown Baton Rouge.

Is this place still around? I used to go there when I was at LSU 15 years ago. It was a complete dump. There was a halfway house around the corner and there were always sketchy people in the parking lot. It was totally filthy inside nobody cleaned it ever. Flies the size of nickels in there. Best root beer float that there has ever been and ever will be.

Still there. I haven’t set foot inside of it for years, but the outside looks the same.

I believe it’s still open. Nothing changed.

I went last year. Your description is spot on and still like that. Food is good though. Always sketch people around the parking lot.

Absolute dump and super thin chili.
I really enjoyed going there while in BR.

God, I love a root beer float!

Zataran’s no longer makes root beer extract. A sad thing. Wonder what they use now?

Haven’t been in about a year but they make a damn good hamburger

I go every now and then when I'm downtown. Its definitely a dump but the food is good, the staff are nice and the food is relatively inexpensive.

Looks like they’re re-doing the top of the building currently. The parapet, I guess you’d call it.

The few times I have gone there it was with my dad. He passed away in 1998 so it has been a really long time since I have been and every time I pass it I have the same thought "I need to stop there one day and grab something to eat". Is it worth going there now?

As long as you set expectations properly, it's a solid burger for the price. Like an old school diner burger, nothing fancy, but no more expensive than Wendy's these days.

This is true. However, also share fond memories as a kid with a burger, fry, and root beer float so cant be too harsh

I remember taking my daughter there when she was a little girl (she's 27 now) on our way home from the BR Zoo. She loved the chili dogs and root beer. The root beer always tasted like it had melted vanilla ice cream in it or something. It was delicious.

Is the bullethole still in the window?

Only thing that beats that was the “double meat lotto burger with cheese”
