Hard to believe how bad the rest on the infield is playing defense.

For his first time playing at first for any amount of time, Braun has looked good at first.

2nd base and catcher is hurting us badly. Serna will be better as the year progresses but Bide has been disappointing.

Probably has cost them 6-8 wins indirectly, if not more. The most disappointing thing about this season has been the lack of basic fundamentals on defense.

I think MIlam is the problem with this team. Sure he is playing good defense but I get a vibe from him that he's not in it this year.

Just biding his time. Maybe he could be a better leader in the dugout.

What an awful take.

How can anyone claim he’s playing good defense (massive understatement) and then claim he’s not in it this year…in the same sentence?

You know who is not in it? Yorke. Do you know how most baseball fans know? Slackass effort on defense.

Milam is 100% focused on being in it. In baseball, it takes more than one or two fully committed players for a team to reach championship caliber.

Everything about this team has been disappointing.

Agree. He's a victim of his own early success

I think the defensive issues have now become mental for this team. Maybe they weren't going to be a great defensive team this year, but they're better than how they've played on defense recently.

I think Yorke is a good example of that. In his entire time at Grand Canyon U, he had 8 errors (IIRC). He has 5 this year. Unfortunately, it seems like he also let that carry over to his offense as well.

It's crazy how poor this team has played defensively. 3 times, that I can remember off the top of my head, Jay has put in a late inning defensive replacement that immediately gets a ball hit to them, makes an error and ends up costing us a game. And those were strictly defensive replacements, not pinch hitters/runners that then take the field.

But yea, Milam has been great defensively this year. The one error he has wasn't the easiest play, but for him it's normally a fairly simple throw to make and 999/1000 he makes that play. Hell, it's possible that if we had a better defensive 2nd baseman, it wouldn't have even been an era. It was a bad throw, but Dardar got his glove on it and probably should've caught it.

Milam's defensive highlight tape this year will be up there for the best in LSU history.

the defense played by Braswell and Dickinson and even Jones was taken for granted by me. They made it very routine. Amazing how many double plays this year's team have botched.

Braun has looked pretty good. it's going to be hard for Yorke to find his way back to the lineup.

He might have a shot at DH if Arrambide and Serna weren't both hitting so well.

Maybe if Milam would run out his pop-ups hard it would be an 8 to 8 game in the ninth and not 7 to 8 game.

Milam’s 80% effort is wasting his own awesome defensive performance.

How the hell do all y’all down vote this? It’s an incredibly prescient observation.

At least 2-3 SEC wins for sure.

I don’t blame them. You have to be able to separate your passion and be an independent observer.

It is true that Milam does not hustle. I saw it in Omaha in the championship game. I can’t remember the circumstance right now, but two LSU baserunners jogged because they assumed a play was going to be made, and it wasn’t. It was very noticeable if you were at the game. And that was in a championship game!
