it's possible that if we had a better defensive 2nd baseman, it wouldn't have even been an era. It was a bad throw, but Dardar got his glove on it and probably should've caught it.

that was my thought too when the play happened - but Milam wasn't perfect on that one = but not what I would call an 'error'

Not bashing the kid but Yorke is the biggest concern. Not only his errors but I can think of several dead duck pop ups that he was a step away from catching and could t get there. Balls on the ground too. Those aren’t errors but they add up quickly.

His defense might be on point but a .266 batting average is not anything to brag about. He should be a leader on this team with his experience but he doesn't seem to be.

We're also wasting a pretty horrible defensive year for everyone else

It is true that Milam does not hustle

Arkansas game in Omaha. He was toast and the game was over if Ohuna didn't piss down his leg.

think MIlam is the problem with this team. Sure he is playing good defense but I get a vibe from him that he's not in it this year.

Just biding his time. Maybe he could be a better leader in the dugout.
im not convinced this is the thing. He has played this way since his freshman year. You can make an arguement that his bat along with Pearson and Yorke(bad on defense too)in the infield have been non productive but im sure he is trying his best.

No matter what anyone thinks he is at lsu currently he is this
Defense = mlb ready
Offense= A ball

the defense played by Braswell and Dickinson and even Jones was taken for granted by me. They made it very routine. Amazing how many double plays this year's team have botched.

We also dearly miss Luis Hernandez behind the plate

I told ya'll last year Brassy would start because of his defense. Good defense will always keep you in the game.

Probably has cost them 6-8 wins indirectly, if not more. The most disappointing thing about this season has been the lack of basic fundamentals on defense.

If you’re comparing them to most teams, the infield defense is still terrible, but it looks a whole lot worse compared to last year. Dickinson and Braswell were both SSs playing 2nd and 3rd. Dardar and Pearson are DHs. They may be the worst 2 athletes I can ever remember both starting in an LSU infield. And he’s been replaced, but if you add Yorke at 1st, that may have been one of the least athletic infields of all time.

And Jay is doing his best to hide them by moving Milam all over the place in those weird shifts, but that’s just putting lipstick on a pig and is probably hurting as much as it’s helping. Especially when it comes to the fundamentals you’re talking about. Guys are fielding ground balls—hopefully—completely out of their normal position and having to make awkward throws from angles they’re not used to. Fundamentals will suffer.

This is a silly take. He's pretty much always been the quiet type player who doesn't play with a ton of emotion since he's been at LSU.
