This Masters will be looked back on as the end of LIV

I’m not necessarily a LIV hater but I think this tournament was the death knell.
Despite Tyrell Hatton’s attempt, LIV players did poorly overall, and Sergio’s meltdown will be terribly perceived. Add to that with the fact that Patrick Reed and Brooks Koepka did pretty well, it was an overall pretty bad showing for LIV
Couple that with Rory going back to back and Scottie being second. Finally add in Jon Rahms comments about preparation, I think LIV is done and this tournament was the turning point.

How dare you! There are staunch LIV fans that post on this board and you have the gall to post this!

What will the take be when one of them wins the US Open? Or the PGA?
Posted on 4/12/26 at 7:24 pm to Tiger1242
It is what it is.
Most of that tour other than just a few like Rahm, Bryson, and Brooks were either done winning tournaments or had not really done much on the world stage.
That being said, IF I’m a 42 year old guy and they offer life changing money for 54 hole shotgun start, I’d do it.
Charles Howell was really good, but his time was done.
Most of their guys were not winning on tour anymore.
For them, the money was nice.
For Rahm it was $300,000,000 or some absurd amount.
I don’t hate them.
I wish I had made more money in life.

They are going to throw a STUPID amount of money at Dechambeau and Rahm to keep them around to hang on to the sliver of relevancy that they have. But those guys are becoming complete afterthoughts and the PGA tour doesnt need them. So many good, likable guys up and coming.

The end of LIV will happen when Bryson moves back to the PGA tour. After that, it will blend into the DP tour and add more international events.

Yep. This is only the first of 4 majors & it’s the most exclusive one. Only 10 LIV players competing & 5 of those were former winners.
Keep in mind LIV is only 5 tournaments in getting OWGR points.
Let’s check back in July

I only see shite about LIV when I come here. If not for TD I’d barely know LIV existed. I will check out the NOLA event regardless.

Bryson is going to end up with an ownership stake of the entire league.
Rahm is a different story, I’m not sure they can offer him enough to stay, but I was wrong on him once already. Never thought he would join that league.

Your post is basically the point I’m making. The league is irrelevant now and the few guys they have who are supposed to be world class let them down big time this weekend while the stars of the PGA tour dominated the event

The PGA tour never needed them. I’ve never understood anyone saying the contrary during this whole schism. There’s new up and comers every year that do great things and people start following and rooting for them. It’s the tournaments we all love that draw the fans. A handful of guys were never bigger than the tour, the tournaments, and courses that people have been watching and have memories of since they were kids (including memories with family members). Maybe if this happened in like 2004 and they pulled prime Tiger it would be a different story. Golf is a nostalgic sport.

This was proved in year 1.
Whenever someone goes to LIV they become irrelevant.
They’ve been shite for years now in the bigger events.

2026 and cucks are still obsessed with the LIV despite the PGA Tour trying to partner w the same Saudi's and copying 96% of LIV's structure to help retain their remaining players.

I'm not a LIV golf fan but they did go to a 72 hole format this year, still a shotgun start though. I will say, I did go to a LIV tournament in Dallas a couple years ago and it was fun, it didn't feel like a true professional tournament like the other PGA events I've been to. The music on TV is atrocious but in person, it wasn't bad and it had a whole different vibe, way more relaxed and felt like just a bunch of really good buddies who can play golf extremely well playing a round. The shotgun start was also pretty nice, didn't have to be out there all day long as it was hot as balls, who puts a tournament on in Dallas in the middle of summer

It will work out eventually.
The Majors are the key piece for the greats, but IF you are a non-household name or over 40, LIV may be an offer you can’t refuse.

Has LIV existed and will it ever exist as something other than "paying more for less"? It mostly seems like it's an intellectual exercise for forum posters trying to justify its existence.
The poster above me said it best. Golf is more about the tournaments than the players. And for me, it's the history, the legacy building that tournaments do for players.
I don't really care about seeing Jon Rahm win 100 tournaments if it's the nobody invitational. But look at Rose yesterday. Had he won, that 2nd major would have completely lifted his career. Even the regular tournaments...nobody cares about Bryson's LIV wins, but if he wins 3-4 a year on the PGA and gets 20-30 career wins, he's a huge legend.

Rahm has never once finished outside the top 10 in a liv event. But what does that mean? Especially when he comes to a major and struggles to make cuts
