I saw it reported yesterday that the WSO had made contact with US forces through some sort of encrypted comms. If that is true, idk why they wouldn't have gone to get him last night unless the area was just too hot to fly some operators in to get him out. I know PJs, Delta and seals specialize in rescue in hot zones so maybe they had to wait to get a team of one of those over there? Maybe the ones already there were doing something else?
Idk. Seems crazy to leave him on the ground in Iran any longer that absolutely necessary.

Yep, and these extraction teams are top notch and just don't fail. They'll level the countryside to rescue just one American if they have to.

Navy guy here but USMC TRAP teams and PJs are primary air crew fetchers. SEALs and Delta are usually after they are caught.
Unless they happened to be nearby when air crew was lost

Yeah you're right. I was just thinking "rescue" but it guess they would be more "hostage rescue". I figured PJs would be the first guys sent out, but with the optics, maybe get all available hands on deck. Surely there are some seals or some marsoc dudes on one of the many boats we have nearby.
Whoever finds him, I hope they're on our side and get him out safely.
