"We are tired of their bullshite and we finally did something about it. I spent the entirety of my first term, and the first year of my second, establishing US oil independence. We do not need Middle Eastern oil anymore, nor oil from anywhere else. Because of this, and because previous Presidents didn't do shite about their bullshite, I finally acted. For 50 years the Iranians have been doing their level beat to wage a unilateral proxy war against the US and because we were dependent on the Middle Eastern dynamic, previous POTUSes didn't do shite about it. So I maneuvered in and finished it.
We have destroyed their military capability and now we leave the stabilization of the Strait of Hormuz to those of you who still do business with these retarded, evil terrorists.
Also, if you would like, you can buy your oil from us too. We are now the global leader in oil production and are open for business."
It was a complete boss move. And something yours truly has been telling you people he was going to do all along. That being, frick their shite up and walk away. Leave it to the rest of the world who still deals with terrorists to figure out.

I wish it were that simple.
The turmoil this creates in global supply chains, helium, rare earth minerals, LNG, other imports, etc. is a financial problem for the US.
While I like that Trump has emphasized bringing manufacturing and jobs back to America, we are a long ways away from that and a great many things we depend on still come from overseas.
Declawing Iran was the right long-term move, but there will be some short-term consequences we will all feel.
