President Donald Trump on Wednesday said Iran’s president has asked the U.S. for a ceasefire.

But the U.S. will “consider” the offer only once the Strait of Hormuz is “open, free, and clear,” Trump said on Truth Social.

“Until then, we are blasting Iran into oblivion or, as they say, back to the Stone Ages!!!” he wrote.

The announcement came hours before Trump was set to deliver an “important update on Iran” in an address to the nation, according to the White House.

The address is set for 9 p.m. ET.

asking for a ceasefire is literally the last thing Iran would do when they're controlling what goes in and out of the Strait.

nevermind that everytime they negotiate with us, they get ambushed.

I believe Iran's goal is to keep the conflict going as long as possible and make oil as expensive as possible

I don't think there's a grain of salt big enough to take with the information that comes from the Iranian side.

I would imagine that Iran's President does want this to stop.
Problem is, does he have the authority to negotiate anything?

Yesterday, Trump said he would walk and didn’t give a damn about Hormuz.

Today a cease fire is conditional on the strait being reopened.

So which one is it?

How many Muh cease fires did Hamas ask for? And what did they do when they got it?

An Islamist word or agreement is worthless. Trust but verify is in play. Israel will be watching every single move in any supposed ’honest’ peaceful leadership. Albeit they do serve their‘Greater Israel’ strategy and that is problematic.

As of a few nights ago, the answer seems to be "No", and his willingness to negotiate is why he was removed from that position.

Follow up story to that one out of Israel from a few nights ago

quote:

Pezeshkian has repeatedly sought an urgent meeting with Mojtaba Khamenei in recent days, but all requests have gone unanswered, with no contact established.

Informed sources say a “military council” composed of senior IRGC officers now exercises full control over the core decision-making structure, enforcing a security cordon around Mojtaba Khamenei and preventing government reports on the country’s situation from reaching him.

Speculation has also emerged regarding whether Mojtaba Khamenei’s health condition may be contributing to the current power dynamics.

quote:

Tensions between Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) have plunged the presidency into a political deadlock, with the Guard effectively taking control of critical state functions, according to sources cited by Iran International.

The IRGC has reportedly blocked Pezeshkian’s appointments and decisions, including his recent effort to nominate a new intelligence minister. All proposed candidates, including Hossein Dehghan, were rejected under pressure from IRGC chief Ahmad Vahidi, who insisted that, given ongoing wartime conditions, key leadership positions must be managed directly by the Guard.
