Biggest moment of the weekend was not the Dardar home run

It was the 543 double play, and Dardar got to be part of that too as an extra benefit.
If this team can start turning some defense, it’s gonna get pretty good.

If our starters stopped walking so may damn batters we would have likely won all three series…

John Pearson coming on at third, infield starting to come around, now just minimize those walks.

If our offense even had a pulse against Oklahoma we would’ve swept them

I love all the if our team play better we would’ve won posts

What would you do without them, Boosie?
Our team did lose two winnable series, but the walks by the starting pitchers were not the only reason; in the Oklahoma games, they were not an issue at all.

I would say the Pearson granny is up there too. That gave us a pulse. An absolute cockshot too.

Our starters walked a total of three batters with 26 Ks and 3 ERs in the Oklahoma series(in 15.2 innings), two walks with 11 Ks and 3 ERs (2 in the 4-2 loss and 1 in the 4-3 loss) in the two final games we lost to Oklahoma(8innings).
Errors and hitting cost us those two games. The last one in particular.

against Vanderbilt sure. But we gave up 9 runs to Oklahoma. That entire series was on the offense. Should have been a full sweep

We win game 3, but for an error at second in the 8th.

Dardar isnt great with his glove but he has the ability to quickly and accurately throw the ball to 1st or second. He's a way more natural middle infielder than Caraway. Caraway has zero quick twitch to his throwing motion. I prefer Dardar at second. This team is gonna struggle defensively no matter what combination of Simpson, Caraway, Pearson, Reaves or Dardar are playing. But Dardar has made a few pretty good defensive plays. The others really haven't.

Absolutely
..pitching is not elite this year.... going to have to pitch to contact and have some dudes make plays behind you.
Loved this series. Obviously we got bad Casen to start and dropped game 1, game two came out w a vengeance and a complete game in all facets...DOMINATE win. Game 3 looked to be over before it started. No Ace availible but the offense held the rope for a gritty series win!

100% agree. I’m just saying what put us in the situation in the first place of one play hurting us is our offense being dead for all but like 3 innings the entire weekend. 9 runs given up should be plenty for a series win and should be a sweep a majority of the time.

100% The problems have been threefold and at least partially involve the timelyness, or the lack thereof, of all phases of the game. Hitting, Fielding, pitching, and baserunning. Anytime you hold a team to 9 runs (7 earned) in 3 games, you should win at least two games.
Some of it has been bad luck, but those things are always highlighted because you put yourself in a position for happenstance to dictate an outcome. Some of that is just baseball, but not all of it. I suspect some of it is the team not quite gelling yet defensively, and then some pressing as players feel the weight of lofty expectations slipping away. But this weekend may have given us a glimpse into what could be.

John is doing a decent job at third (the one game at first was a failure for him) but I don't know why he is playing so far in on some of the plays. I have seen several balls get by third that if he played at normal depth, he has a shot at...unless he doesn't have the arm for the long throw.

I don’t know, multiple people here said that the bat flip could be the turning point of the season.

If everyone but Milam can just get to average, then Milam really helps make the infield a little better than that as a whole. This weekend was an improvement, but they have to keep building on that.

There will be a few Friday pitchers in the league who turn off the water. That’s going to happen, but we need the APPROACH we saw in 3 of the last 4 games going forward.
We were still doing a good job of taking balls and getting walks, but the guys were hunting balls to swing at rather than watching multiple hittable strikes glide by with the bat on the shoulder. We were more aggressive at the plate and running the bases. A bit too aggressive on the bases, but I’ll take that if it comes with a more aggressive mindset offensively, overall. This lineup needs that and seems to feed off it once they get going.
