This team is cooked. But this is the portal era. Sometimes you hitnojnthe transfers and sometimes you Wiff
I would start playing the freshman and see what you have in them, no point and playing the mercenaries, we know what we got in them.

He’s not going to give up on the season. Two years ago he started 3-12 and made a regional and was playing well at the end of the season. I understand our RPI and computer numbers were much better two years ago but point being he’s going to keep trying to find something that clicks with this team

He also needs to quit giving up on games in the middle innings when they are behind a run or 2. This is college baseball a big inning can happen at anytime. Instead, he always goes with a scrub who can’t throw strikes and that 1 or 2 run leads turns into an insurmountable lead and a definite loss. Love Jay but he’s been doing that crap since he’s been here.

Well maybe a few freshman will click. These portal guys certainly aren’t. In 09 they inserted 2 freshman ( Mahtook & Nola) and they took off.

He's played the only freshmen who seem ready to contribute, and the results haven't been great. Braun has had plenty of run, and not much has happened, so far. He's given Ruckert opportunities, and hasn't shown much. Serna is doing well, at the plate, at least. He's in there every game.
And the freshmen pitchers have all had chances, and the results are all over the place. It's too early to just start throwing them all out there and hoping for the best, when the overwhelming likelihood is that it would make us much worse. Those guys have to earn their way into more playing time, not just get thrown into the fire as an experiment, in my opinion.
I know the alternative isn't going well, but some of these guys have track records that suggest they should come around at some point. The freshmen don't have any history to point to.

If that was the case then why did he take Plog out and go with Rizy who has the lowest era on the team? He should have just left Plog in if he was giving up, right?

I’m amazed that fans believe they think they know better than the guy who has two national championships in three years how to best run the roster he has assembled.

Johnson is a great coach, so he'd never do something this idiotically drastic

I don't think they are cooked for the season, but it's time to shuffle the lineup bigtime. Bench of few guys who don't expect to be benched, etc. Especially on Sunday if we lose today.

I know this team is supposed to be “talented” on on paper but I legitimately don’t see it. Some of the freshman are pretty good yea but even 2 years ago with the 2024 team that started rough I could at least see a scenario of them piecing it together. I just don’t know if we have the dudes this time around

If you really think Jay Johnson is doing that, then you're dumber than your posts suggest.

Definitely wanted to see someone else get the last at bat yesterday other than Reeves.

In his defense a 1 or 2 run lead feels pretty insurmountable for this team.

How’s that worked out?

JJ needs to show us if “he’s all in “. He’s stunk it up with his tickering this year.

Portal era or portal errors?

I guess it’s more to keep them here. In the portal era, these guys will just leave

Next thing you will be saying Evans is only good for one 15 strike out game per season then will be terrible all the rest of his upcoming starts and a freshman pitcher needs to take his spot. You don't think Jay knows more about his roster and its capabilities than you?? Terrible take by you.
