They don’t play around. House next door getting new asphalt roof. Started this morning about 8. Hauling shingles up now. There’s 5, but I noticed the two wearing a sombrero type hats, ain’t packing shite up to the roof. It’s the three wearing hoodies doin the grunt work. Got a buddy that has a black suburban, should he strafe the house a few times. Another CSB.

No lie, I've got respect for anyone willing to work on a roof in the heat. We'd do better trading them for some shiftless, lazy bums.

Talked to one of the young ones and said he was 17. Asked him why wasn’t he at school. He said because they have recesses, and I don’t play.

The best worker on site is the one woman who cooks for the whole crew using a tiny portable stove.

I had a crew here doing mine last week, plus some framing work. They worked their asses off and got done quickly. They also showed up on time every day.

The sombrero wearers are not hauling the shingles because they will be the ones that will have the entire roof laid down in about an hour.

Just watch your driveway and in front of your house. My only complaint with teams like this in my neighborhood is they get so busy busting their arse on the roof that they shortcut picking up nails & trash. It's common to see them using blowers to get stuff off of the roof and out of bushes, and only using the magnetic sweepers without a care in the world for anything missed

And while it may be funny to do that from time to time, you should leave the ones busting their asses to focus on their work

At a Mexican fella’s funeral, I once saw the deceased exit the coffin to dig his own grave and then get back into the coffin.

Had my roof replaced last June. Seven Hispanics showed up at 7 a.m., parked a huge dump trailer in my driveway and started tearing off the roof.

My roof is 25 squares and I opted to remove the 2 Whirly-Birds, patch the holes and go with a full ridge vent. They also had to flash around one chimney. Oh, and my roof is 20 ft. up and a 7/12 pitch.

The shingles, underlayment, drip edge, roof vent and nails were delivered 3 hours later and they hand loaded those shingles one bundle at a time by ladder.

They only took 2 breaks, one for lunch and another around 4 p.m. and finished the job by 7:30 that night.

I had turned on the A/C in the man cave, had a fridge full of water and Gatorade, set up a long table and chairs for them to use at lunch and had access to a bathroom.

They did a great job and worked their asses off in that heat.

Had a new roof installed in 2019 due to tornado damage. Big crew showed up and worked till around noon when they decided a 3-hour siesta was in order. They wound up working past dark and had to come back the following morning to finish up. No bueno.

This is common practice in Texas, and planned for in scheduling from what I can tell. It's better than having overheated central Americans passing out on rooftops.

Abu Dhabi's government has prohibited, for over two decades, outdoor work between 1230-3.

Churches ask you to give money for the summer mission trip where the high school kids go put roofs on houses in Guatemala

Are all the Guatemalan roofers here already?

There wasn’t much chatter, seemed everyone new his job and go. No sign on the truck or the van. Texas tags.

Yeah, people love it when other people work really hard at difficult jobs for low pay and don't take many breaks.

Had a crew work from 0700 to noon. Then they all ate and napped in the shade around my yard fountain for two hours. My buddy stopped by and came inside and said “did you know there are eight Mexicans sleeping in your side yard?” They rallied around 1500 and worked till dark. Were back the next day to finish and I had bought a case of beer for each guy on the crew. I was going to hand out the beer at lunch time. Got pulled aside by the foreman. “No Mr JB. You give them that and this job never gets finished. Give me the beer and I will hand it out after work tonight.”

I had meant for the beer to be for later but apparently giving it to them meant it was Go Time.

About 15 years ago, my wife called me at work and asked me if I had called roofers to put a roof on our house. When I said "no" , she said "well, there are roofers all over our house". I told her not to stop them that I was on my way home.

My wife had left the house about 9 am that morning and returned home about 3 pm after picking up the kids from school. By the time I made it home around 3:45 pm they were done and were cleaning up. I asked the crew who could hablo ingles and a fellow stepped up. I told him they did a fine job, but they roofed the wrong house. The whole crew understood what I said because they were all shaking their heads. They were supposed to roof the house directly across the street. The across the street neighbor's mailbox is in my front yard.

I called the roofing company owner and it went straight to voice mail so left a message telling him what had occurred. He didn't call me back but was at my house in about 10 minutes. The roofing company owner and I stood in my front yard and he asked what I thought about the roof. I told him it wasn't the color I would have chosen. My roof was black and the new roof was a dark grey. I thought the vein in his forehead was going to bust. He marched off mad as hell, stating, "I guess you got a free roof".

The roofers started on the roof across the street that afternoon. It was well pass dark before they finished.
