Down vote away, but this is just my opinion.

Interstellar is easily the most overrated movie of the 21st century. It’s not the deep or hard to understand, and if you have seen any movies it’s nothing you haven’t seen before. Not a top 10 Nolan movie, not a top 10 space movie. The ending? Anne Hathaway making it to the planet is supposed to be a huge epic revelation..except her character was complete dry wall throughout the film yet they expect you to care deeply that she accomplished her mission. bullshite! I hate the term “film bro” but I honestly feel like this applies to Interstellar

To be clear I don’t hate it or think it’s a bad movie. Cinematography, directing, acting and score are all top notch. But when it’s all said and done at the end of the movie I was like “…that’s it?” This is the movie people gone on and on and on about and have called “life changing?” I don’t get it. It definitely insists upon itself.

I kind of agree. Good movie, but overrated. I admittedly have only watched it once when it came out though. Might have a different opinion upon rewatch.

I personally love Interstellar but I’m always interested in “overrated”

Didn’t win any Oscars. Below 80% on RT. Below 90 on audience meter.

It’s loved but not overrated.

The OP basically thinks "overrated" means "some people like this movie more than me" which is hilarious. He likes it less than me. Does that mean its underrated as well?

Castaway is in my top 5 (for many reasons, both objective and subjective). Do i care that other people think its ok or not good? No.

I'm in this camp. Good movie. No desire to see it again.

I would be willing to bet if it was directed by some no-name or unheralded director the general consensus would be the same.

Really good sci fi movie. This is a genre I love but is about 70% crap. Love any good stuff that comes along.

Just wish Nolan would get someone to mix the sound that knows what they are doing. I know this is a common complaint. It’s like a band, the singer should be the loudest and most up front in the mix. Same should apply to films. It’s important to hear what the characters are saying.

You don't know anybody that has called Interstellar "life changing"

and I'm going to post the docking scene just for this shitty thread

I've only watched it once. There were parts I liked, and others I didn't. Not a terrible movie. But I feel no need to watch it again.

Go see it next time it’s back on imax.

It’s an experience.

Exactly my take. Saw it once. Enjoyed it. Never want to see it again. To be fair, I feel that way about a lot of decent movies. Probably worthy of its own topic on this board.

Rewatching Interstellar in 70mm IMAX last year is my favorite theatrical experience. I would have stayed for the next showing if they let me.

I’ve never made it all the way through without falling asleep. I’ve seen the entire movie just not straight through.

Maybe I am misremembering the movie, but I don't remember it being a big revelation that she made it to a planet. It was just that Coop was going to go find her at the planet she planned to go to.

Again, I could be completely forgetting. I only saw it in theaters.

docking scene

The scenes leading up to this starting with Matt Damon emerging from the sleep chamber, to him turning on Cooper and the team, then this scene…. And considering the stakes, this is the best lead-in and climax in any movie I’ve ever seen.
