Has anyone outside of Moscona reported that Verge is opposed to hiring Will Wade?

Just curious. He said that in this morning's podcast and has said it before, but I need everything he says double-sourced before believing it. In some ways he is just as bad as Gilbeau.

well the governor and boosters want it. verge will take orders.

Don’t listen to anything that clown says. No one talks to Moscona.

I have heard Verge is not a fan from others…but verge has a pretty sweet gig as a figurehead AD so he’s not going to rock the boat

Verge knows about all the admin trouble WW caused. Not surprised he would be against it.

If Verge wants to keep his job be shouldn’t be opposing this. His replacement just got hired in Schroyer if Verge opposes too much

I would not be surprised. I don't think Will Wade was the best employee
It doesn't matter, Verge has absolutely no teeth. He's taking orders.

Verge was here when Wade was fired and was part of that. Wade doesn't want to answer to Verge. I can't say that Verge doesn't want Wade here b/c I don't know that one way or the other. I do know that Wade has some demands like $xx,xxx, xxx for NIL, and that he wouldn't answer to Verge. Schroyer is coming here for a reason. Many connected people thought he was coming here as AD as soon as Rousse was hired. I personally didn't hear that from my connection. But there is a poster here, womeninsports, that seems to know a lot. Find those posts, and things will start to make sense.

The idiots on the board who think they need to thank Verge for anything other than breathing crack me up.

Verge isn’t paid for his opinions or to make decisions. He's just there to serve as the mouthpiece. He will be replaced once he has worn out his usefulness.

No one is "reporting it", but Verge is against it. That is why McMahon hasn't been formally fired.
You saw it arise in the BK firing/Kiffin hiring, but it's even more so here with Wade, this move is being made above Verge's head by political powers. That's why it has long been a Wade or McMahon outcome. The political powers ONLY want Wade. They don't care about LSU basketball, in general. They only care about giving the people what they want....Wade. If Wade didn't come to LSU, then they were out and the AD and boosters opposed to Wade would be left alone to continue to run LSU basketball into the ground.
This has been in the works for nearly a year. It's, in part, why you've seen all of the moves over the last year. The same people (which goes VERY high up on the LA politics food chain) who wanted Wade at LSU after last season are the ones making it happen now. The way they are making it happen is they removed the impediments. Woodward and Tate were unequivocally against rehiring Wade. That's why LSU fans had to suffer another year of MM. It's also (in a not insignificant part) why both got pushed out of LSU and "friendly" faces were installed in their place.
It's why Rouse is the President. He's the choice of the current political "ruling" class. You remember when there was report Verge was being named the permanent AD and Rouse, the President, said he didn't think that was the case? That's because there was very much discussion if Verge was going to be an impediment to the political group's (and their aligned wealthy donors) agenda. Verge was allowed to stay to effectively serve as a "yes" man. The front. He's not really running LSU athletics. This is a political power play above his head. That's why Moscona has a lot of "bad" information. He's only getting it from the sources who really don't want this move to be made

If you scan down the Rant right now, every single thread is about Wade.
If Verge somehow doesn't hire him, it would be monumentally fricked up. It would be the absolute ultimate in embarrassing AD disasters. If he somehow can't land the plane, he'll have to hire someone like Dan Hurley, Todd Golden, or Bill Self just to placate the base. With an NIL budget worth tens of millions of dollars.

Put two and two together:
Verge was here as Asst AD when Wade was ousted. Probably some hard feelings about this. I would not be surprised if Verge is opposed to rehiring Wade because of this.
Wade insists Schroyer be hired as Asst AD in charge of basketball program. This resolves his conflict w Verge.
Speculation: Has Verge been so insistent about not hiring Wade that the Gov and Rouse went and got Schroyer as a workaround, eventually to be Verge’s replacement? Bring him on as Asst AD now and then make the change later.

Will wade and verge do not get along. Actually wade said that as long as verge is the ad he will not come. Im assuming that why they are bringing in schroyer to handle things on the basketball end so wade and verge don’t have to deal with each other

There is plenty to thank Verge for, but final decisions regarding hiring or firing anyone are not one of them. Verge is very good with the money folks and connected boosters. He has been a constant in the athletic department for over 3 decades and has lots of supporters. He is also savvy enough to have weathered several storms. He will be here for another 2-5 years, I suspect, and then will retire with close to his full salary.
Anyone who thinks an AD makes any real final decisions regarding hiring and firing of major coaches in any athletic department of size is mistaken. Verge will put in his two cents when asked, then will go along with whatever decision the board makes. Which would be why he may have opposed rehiring Wade but will go along with it, gladly.

He gets paid to keep his opinion behind closed doors. He is an administrator. His job is to run the department in the way that is decided by the Board and the University President.
