Let's just for the purposes of this thread, assume that the Pear comes home.

What are our chances if any to land this young fella?

Obviously, his dad was one of the Tiger greats to come through Red Stick.

I feel like that's gotta help a little.

Maybe I'm wrong, but one can dream.

irregardless of his dad's ties to LSU, Marcus Spears Jr should make the best decision for himself and future career

no offense, but if he's the #1 player in the country he should go to a program with more skins on the wall then LSU

Better than zero; but not likely. Just starting too far behind and his only exposure to LSU basketball so far was a courtesy visit without any real interest.

From October:

quote:

LSU: “I didn’t know the history of the coach. I didn’t know how much he had done in the basketball community. I learned a lot about the players. ?Obviously, LSU with somebody that I look at just because my parents went there, but I didn’t really know too much about the program. It is good to get down there, see the players, and learn their coach and staff. So, I was able to just learn a lot.

“The LSU atmosphere is ?good. I went to a few football games and it’s nothing like a Death Valley football game. ?So it is a good environment.”

Now if LSU brings tPear home and makes Spears the #1 priority; I think LSU can beat out the instate TX schools that are currently in the lead.

A 2027 class with 3 Top 50 players would be awesome and isn't that much of a stretch.

#6 Marcus Spears Jr.
#31 Ahmad Hudson
#42 TJ Jamison (PG from Calvary Baptist)

No clue. I just looked up 2027 LA guys on On3. Regarding Spears, whoops, didn't realize I was posting a quote from a paywall article. But since it's from October and doesn't say much, it isn't exactly breaking news.

Why? Is there any relationship between a top player not succeeding professionally because they went to a program that historically was not great?

I was about to say none but looking at his offer list he could go anywhere for any reason. Somebody wrote an article a day or two ago about the blue bloods are no longer the threat they were to land all the talent before NIL. UK, KU, and UNC are all gone out of the tourney despite spending a lot of money. Summary, players are going wherever the the winds take them now.

B10, SEC have 10 of the sweet 16, ACC and B12 have 4. The none FB schools are fading. The story pointed out that the B10 and SEC are awash with cash due to strong FB programs... all others are fading

I saw a recent interview where they were asking Marcus about his son. One interesting comment was when he was asked about his son going to a "blue blood" school. Paraphrasing, but his response was that although that's what everyone always says, sometimes a blue blood school might not be the best situation for a particular student athlete.

So i believe there's hope!

Im hate to beat a dead horse here but see this is why McMahon failed. He just learned who McMahon was?

Come on.

The kid is elite and BOTH his parents are LSU alumni and BOTH played basketball at LSU (obviously his dad not for long but still)

McMahon was here for 4 years. He should have been camped out at every single game and in that kids house as much as could be allowed.

Bingo. In the very near future, there are gonna be schools no one would ever dream of being relegated to the "minor leagues" of college sports.

Think syracluse, Wake, BC, NC st and others hell, some of the weaker members of the SEC and big 10 will probably be chucked out on their asses.

We're about to have a big time separation between the schools that are serious, and the ones that are bullshitting.

I certainly hope with the arrival of Wade, LSU's efforts to recruit Spears will definitely pick up.

We’re 8-25 in men’s big 3 sports in SEC play this season, only South Carolina is worse. We’d be chucked out on our asses by your definition.
