What would you do…(Will Wade)

Now take off your purple and gold shaded glasses for a moment. What if you got fired from a job for something you did that other coaches did as well but did not lose their job. Would you go back to the employer that fired you on a knee-jerk reaction instead of waiting it out like other programs did? Love to have Wade back, but LSU is no better program than NC State. Quality of life however is night and day. The Raleigh area is a perfect place to raise a family. Can’t say the same for Baton Rouge. Why would he leave NC State to go back to LSU who fired him? Time will tell

We are not taking off our purple and gold glasses today.

The people who threw him under the bus are gone. He has close relationships with many in leadership now.

Weren’t folks saying the same thing about Oxford compared to Baton Rouge?
Posted on 3/25/26 at 11:38 am to SCLSUMuddogs
Yes, and baton rouge is worse, but the football program is leaps and bounds better.

Yeah, but will his kids learn how to jig in Raleigh? I don't think so

The ACC is on borrowed time, and NC State may be one of the schools left without a dance partner when the SEC and B1G come calling

LSU isn’t some sentient being, it’s run by humans. The humans in charge now are not the humans that chose to fire him. It’s not that difficult to understand.
Also, when the ACC collapses in a few year, LSU will be in much better position than NC State, even if just by being in the SEC.

The people who fired him at LSU are all gone.
Do you know who's running the show at LSU nowadays? The people who gave Will Wade a chance at McNeese even with all the NCAA investigation bullshite still playing out.

I’d argue that a good coach with equal resources would find it easier to win at LSU compared to NC State. I realize NC State has more historical success, but Louisiana has a ton of basketball talent and lacks UNC and Duke being next door

I love how this point always gets brought up in coaching changes as if these coaches are going to live off Plank Road and send their kids to EBR public schools.
Yeah, Raleigh is really nice, nicer than BR, sure.
Don’t act like there are no areas in and around BR that aren’t great places to raise a family.
The “night and day difference” is BS

well the man that pulled the trigger on that is out and you now have friends on the board and in the governor's office

I mean this is something that affects middle class decision making moreso than someone making millions
If you want to argue NC St is a better job, it may be....but LSU clearly means something to Wade and its a draw.

All those folks are gone. The people at mcneese who supported him will be in place. And the governor is fully behind him.

I strongly believe that he feels like he has unfinished business here and wants to make it right.

Nice surface level analysis. Already been stated on here by many that Woodward is gone and Wade is well acquainted with the people now in charge.
I would add that he could also even consider it a great big “FU” to Woodward.

As others have said, there's been a complete change in admin at LSU since then.
Also, do people not remember that Wade signed an amended contract that allowed him to be fired with cause if LSU received a notice of allegations, when everyone and their mother knew LSU was going to receive said notice.
It's not like he didn't know it was coming. And it wasn't exactly knee-jerk. The situation had been on-going for a while. Maybe LSU should have just ridden it out as other schools did, but they didn't.
He apparently liked being at LSU. He apparently liked being in Baton Rouge. He apparently likes basically everyone in place at LSU now. So yeah, if LSU comes calling why wouldn't he listen.

This is the real reason he will leave NC State. Plus, he knows LSU and the bosses are different. It’s hard to put in words just how badly SW needed to be let go.

Lots of excellent points that have been brought up I didn’t give consideration. With all of the people gone that fired him that definitely changes things. I don’t think the ACC is on the verge of collapse by any means and Raleigh is definitely a better place to live in Baton Rouge… I’ve done both. End of the day I think he’s a great coach and I hope he comes back. Considering all the rumors it Sounds like this will happen sooner than later if it does.
