But will the NWS still predict that this could be another record year for hurricanes?

Does it mean a dryer than normal summer and fall? Are my food plots going to burn up, once again?

No, it means frequent fronts moving through and wet summer.

There is a YouTube guy in Canada saying this and the impending collapse of the Gulf Stream is a sign of uncontrollable global warming. And with the collapse of the GS and a larger ocean current (name escapes me) Europe will plunge into a severe cooling period. And judging from the comments, he has many disciples.
You'd think the Europeans would be happy about plunging into an ice age.

BTW, I don't believe this BS. I just wanted to point out how a Canadian Influencer extrapolated the 2026/27 El Niño into an unalterable descent into a worldwide hellscape or deep freeze or whatever.

They always try to make the “Ninos” way more dramatic than they are. Poor weather folks. Hey, we all got boring jobs, join the crowd.

How often have they forecast a record year for hurricanes?

It can’t get any slower than having literally 0 land falling storms in the Gulf.

This would have been a useful prediction last year

The Colorado group that makes projections has been dead wrong lately. If they say fewer storms, re-up your insurance

First it was "super fog" now we have "Super Nino"... Have the weather people run out of adjectives?

Speaking of, the latest Marvel/DC crossover “Spider-Man/Superman no. 1” just dropped today to commemorate the 50th anniversary of “Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man,” the first-ever Marvel/DC crossover. The latest issue has 26 variant covers.

For TV ratings, yes, NWS, local and national news organizations will predict and over dramatize everything related to hurricane season.

How, exactly, does NOAA, NHC, NWS, etc. benefit from TV ratings?

ETA: It is NOAA that issues the preseason Atlantic hurricane season forecast, the NWS has nothing to do with it.
