Is there any recourse in Louisiana for a tenant when a building is not keeping a place livable? My current situation, and this is supposed to be a nice place is this…

Didn’t have water pressure enough to shower for 3 months.

Fire alarm goes off in the middle of the night several times a week.

AC goes out in summer and heater in winter.

Now there are mice.

Elevators go out often.

Breakers flip when using certain appliances.

And no it’s not a cheap place to live in the slightest which is why all the tenants are pissed.

Haha I almost put in the original post that it is not El Cid. But the fact it seems like it is pretty bad. People are moving out and breaking leases

Has to be a housing board or commission overseeing that stuff for the city

You should just buy a house and stop renting. Either that or just be grateful to pay section 8 rates and not market rates.

Poor

Report to the local news and let them do a story on it.

Move out.

This is a free country. You’re not forced to live anywhere.

Stop bitching and take control of your life.

The recourse you have is to move. What would make you want to seek some government agency to file complaints when you can just get the frick out and live somewhere else?

We had an apartment complex in our area make the news a few months back when the water to the complex was cut off by the city. The water bill was included in rent, and management had not paid the bill in several months. All the tenants were left without water.

Not much in the way of help to you, but it did remind me how shitty management can be.

Why have you lived in that dump long enough to know about the heat and AC?

I have been here 7 years. It recently came under new ownership and that’s when all the problems started. And it’s a very nice place, I’ve always loved it. It’s not section 8 or government owned. It’s walking distance to work. I’m just curious if something like not paying rent would force them to fix shite.

It’s just me but after a few months of that shite I would just move.

That’s your recourse.
