dems will just pivot to a federal "soak the rich" tax, then act surprised when the wealthy start off-shoring their money.

Dems politicians know it won't work but they don't care, it is only to gaslight their base to keep voting for them.

Not just voting for Democrats, but heavily donating to Democrat politicians and organizations to change their adopted state to more closely align with their warped social views. Not one time will the unintended fiscal consequences of that poor decision making ever enter their mind.

Regardless of how you feel about top end taxes, this is a dumb tweet because they’ve experienced a net fiscal gain.

I.e. they’ve also brought in $6billion & annual collections exceed initial projections.

Outmigration was also worse in 2021, so they’re not in any sort of collapse. Some data shows millionaire counts steady / increasing… So yeah, some people have left but this is like showing expenses without showing profits.

Will get downvoted, but no one will make a counterpoint because there’s nothing in this post that isn’t a fact.

When Texas flips blue and raises taxes, they’ll go to Florida and flip it blue. Few places to escape to and ruin after that.

If I were a smart legislator in a red state, I’d begin introducing amendments to severely limit the state’s ability to tax.

What is even worse is that the upper income earners in Mass almost, as a block, voted for the Dems who passed these increases. These upper income earners moved and will now work to change wherever it is they moved.

The people that would leave Texas for Florida aren’t voting blue now - why would they in Florida?

The people that are leaving California and New York for Texas, will move on to Florida after they ruin Texas, and ruin Florida too.

Sorry, I should have been more descriptive about patterns of shitty marxist voting.

They voted for the crap, and now they abscond to TX and FL and bring their voting habits with them. This is how the cancer of liberal socialism spreads.

The real answer will not be available until more time has passed.

Will out migration increase as more and more see their taxes increase.

I would not put a ton of stock in short term conclusions.

Why does anyone believe giving the government more money is a good thing.

All of the "tax the rich" and more tax idiots are bizarre. The government doesn't need more money to waste and abuse. They already have plenty of money for that.

I'm sure Massachusetts is gaining lots of homegrown millionaires when the mean house is more than 600k.

Florida going from a swing state to pure red would say otherwise.

They did have a net fiscal gain, the problem is, to get that increase they had to bleed the lower classes to an even greater extent. I think that is the point the OP.

Its the reverse of the bernie sanders of the world "your tax breaks are benefiting the rich". Well if you give a tax break and the rich are paying 70% of the tax and they only get a small reduction.....arent they still getting ripped off versus bernie making people think they are the sole beneficiaries.

Other countries already do this, which is why tax havens exist.

I don’t think the millionaires largely have the same views as the leftist normies
