It’s a sad time for Gen X Veterans and Dependents. Robin Hood Sub Shoppe is no more.

Robin Hood Hits the End of Its 40-Year Road

quote:

During the weekend of March 14-15, the last location of Robin Hood Sandwiches closed at Camp Casey, ending a more than 40-year run for the Exchange-exclusive restaurant.

Now the best sub shoppe and pizza place to ever exist are both gone. Anthony’s Pizza and Robin Hood Subs are no more. I survived the 90’s by eating at both places in the AAFES Exchange. You will be missed Black Forest Sandwich and massive pizza slice!

Eh

Big Al’s flightline kitchen at Lakenheath could dish out a case of the chits with the best of them.

Now the old diner out hwy 26 going through Fort Benning out towards Buena Vista used to serve a damn good burger.
Think they called it the “Ranger Burger”

Good times

Was this just a AAFES thing? I don't recall ever seeing one in a Navy Exchange, though I didn't actually go to NES very often.

Anthony’s 5 meat was good.

Last time I had Robin Hood, it was awful.

I spent a total of 5-1/2 years at Benning. Ranger burgers were awesome as was that place.

That's a national company though... Robin Hood closing might be the very last of the AAFES private brand restaurants that so many of us enjoyed/tolerated/hated

Frank's Franks (never tried that one)
Anthony's
Robin Hood

And we switched to this shite that made you stick out like a sore thumb.

At least we didn’t have to shine boots anymore.

Yup.
RAF Bentwaters 87-91

Although some guys still stuck to the Green Bean uniforms.
None of the higher-ups seemed to care about the mismatch.

Back when we still took pride in polishing our boots and having a pressed and highly starched uniform when not in the field.

Anthony’s Pizza and Robin Hood Subs

When my parents were stationed at Ft. Sam, I used to work at both before I joined. Used to love Anthony's pizza. Was legit sad when they closed shop.

Didn't care for Robin Hood that much but I used to eat the hell out of their bread bowl soup.
