Celebrities and suddenly becoming Christians

I feel bad for saying this; it’s a bad attitude for this.
When I see main stream celebrities saying they’re Christian’s is hard to believe. Most Hollywood (not all) people usually are the exact opposite of what one expect
What do you think?

I mean if they’re the slightest bit genuine about it good for them.

Whatcha got against Christians?

Take them at face value.
If someone says they cannot be saved without Jesus, then I would welcome them.

Depends on if they’re Mel Gibson Christians or James Talarico Christians.

Careful there brother
quote:
Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?

I think we shouldn't judge.

I’ll give anyone the benefit of the doubt and believe/pray they have found Christ. Even if possibly a ploy by someone in the public eye, maybe someone will find Christ because of them which is another soul saved.

I think that most self proclaimed Christians don't actually believe what they, implicitly or explicitly, claim to believe. I wouldn't treat celebrities any differently. Likely a small percentage of actual Christians and a whole host of bullshitters, with the only real question being whether they are bullshitting you or bullshitting themselves.

Well certainly there's a with Hillsong church and other things there has been a softcore peddling of the Bible with the full on love of Jesus
And all the things he says in the Bible, that would force any of us to admit faults. Coming to grips with that legitimately its a easy thing to say lot harder to commit the effort.
Because if you do that you continue to hold yourself responsible and that's not always easy

1st Corinthians 5. You judge those that are within the church. Those outside of the church are already judged by God. Yes, they still have an opportunity to come to Christ. That’s the great thing about Him. “While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us”.

1st Corinthians 5
quote:Which is essentially what the OP is talking about.
God will judge those outside. “Expel the wicked person from among you.”
God expects us to use our judgement, correct? How can we discern truth from lies without judgement?
We can't.
another great one:
quote:
those that call Good wicked, and wicked good
We just aren't allowed to render final judgement, because that belongs to God.
We are 100% expected by God to use our judgement

"...but you should use discernment."
I think this is the best and correct way to look at it.
The new popular wave of the "claim trend" is certainly concerning. I see public behavior that is not the way it should be; but know I have done the same, so I better mind my own house.
Saturday night and Sunday morning have been very different at times...
