My man looks like he might sleep for a week.

One of the all time “what are you thinking” type hires. This decision was preordained

It's sad. Wish he didn't take the job.

The game last night was a lot closer than that 22-6 score.

Unreal what Ray Tanner did to his own program the last 15 years.

Surprised they did it this quick, but had to be done soon

$$$
He’d never admit it publicly, but it probably worked out better than he hoped (fired early and paid buyout)
Paul is a hall-of-famer, but he certainly isn’t cut out for the NIL/transfer era.

I think the 6 million dollar contact was the main factor

Yeah throwing a pick 6 when you're at the opponent's 2 yard line is a real backbreaker.

We should thank Pulmonary for helping wreck that program.

They have any young players worth poaching?

I feel bad for Paul man.
When he retired from LSU, dude was in a bad place with the recent death of his dad and his neck. It was clear to everyone that it needed to happen, and I'm sure deep down even to him. But after 2 years of retirement and his neck feeling less pain, he was probably so stir-crazed that he thought he needed to get back to coaching the game he loved. And so he takes a job of a name-program but in dire straits, only for his friend and AD to bail a year in.
Dude is a baseball rat and wanted to get back to coaching because he missed it, but that was an impossible situation for any coach to succeed in, let alone an older coach. Hopefully, he can find peace in retirement this time. I also hope LSU lets him hang around the program like they did before he took the Scar job.
This board has a lot of Mainieri haters on here, because he had the audacity to win only one national title, but let it never be forgotten how quickly he got this storied program back on top after Smoke nearly killed everything Skip built.

His hubris was ultimately his undoing. He deluded himself into thinking leaving LSU was his decision and he was still a good coach.
