Insane that basic catcher skills are this team’s Achilles Heel

How difficult can it be to catch the ball and throw out a runner at first base on a third strike? Try out the third or fourth catchers on the roster if you have to…

If they can figure this glaring weakness out, then I think Omaha tickets are back on!

Do you think that’s the only problem that this team has had so far?

No, but I am confident that the hitting and pitching issues are coming around. While basic infield defense (outside of Milam) and catching continues to be a massive struggle with no signs of improvement.

Funny thing about baseball...if you catch the ball there is in fact no need at all to throw the runner out at 1b on a 3rd strike!

I have 100% confidence in Jay Johnson that he will continue to improve this team.

They’re showing signs of starting to come together as it is.

Sometimes I feel like people don’t realize baseball is hard and even the best in MLB make mistakes.

That being said I understand the concerns of this team’s consistency and fielding. What I don’t get is freaking out after every error.

Very?

Or else everyone would do it?

“how hard can it be to throw strikes the other team can just smash over the wall?”

“How hard can it be to turn a double play?”

“how hard can it be to get a hit with runners on”

Hard.

Baseball is hard

Cade hasn't been great, but last night he easily threw 4-5 runners out. Only one he didn't was a blocked ball in the dirt he couldn't locate. Only 1 ball popped out of his glove on the third strike, all others were balls blocked up in the dirt and he played them perfectly.

I think we continue to improve at catcher, catchers are a different breed, they grow up being team first guys and almost all of them press and put undue pressure on themselves as they mature into their roles. I think he will settle in and play better and better.

Do you believe you know more about the players and who should be playing than Jay Johnson??

Are you really wondering why the most difficult defensive position is hard to play? Maybe its second to SS but I'd argue Catchers have to do so many more unique things well to be considered good at their job.

Let's not pretend LSU picked up a kid that was the starter for a Louisiana 3A school that only played summer ball for his HS coach.

Cade played for the Banditos Elite teams, Canes National team, and invite only MLB scout team.

This guy has seen 95 with breaking stuff for years.
