Houston Rodeo's new dress code raises concerns around discrimination. Dress codes have historically been used to discriminate against people of color.

Dressing up in your best Western wear is part of the experience for many. Still, there has been growing chatter about folks taking their outfits too far, showing up in clothes that many find too risqué for an event that is supposed to be family-friendly. Although many have praised the rodeo's decision to crack down on revealing western-inspired wear, there are concerns that the dress code could be used to disproportionately discriminate against people of color.
quote:
Dress codes have a history of being used in bars and clubs to discriminate against people of color. For example, last summer, Houston City Council member Edward Pollard proposed an amendment requiring nightclubs and dance halls with dress codes to clearly post the policy at their entrances, after he and City Controller Chris Hollins were denied entry into a Midtown establishment.

Why isn’t there an intervention at home to prevent these type of attacks on my eyes?
At some point, a person needs to intervene and say, “that’s not a good look on your 54” arse”.

The fattest, nastiest people always wear the trashiest clothes. It’s like nude beaches…..the people you’re hoping to see are rarely there. It’s usually old shriveled up prunes

If I was the rodeo, I would put out a statement that says the following:
Maybe it's racist.
Maybe it's not.
Maybe go frick yourself.

Isn't it a little racist to suggest all black and/or brown people dress the same?

Someone, somewhere finds this insanely attractive.
It looks like someone glued a basketball to their backside then painted it to kinda match.

Why do fatties want everyone to see their asses? It's weird.

Or, and this is a bit radical, you could simply adhere to the dress code and avoid any issue.

Overcompensation. Culturally, we pushed the idea that fat is just as healthy and beautiful as fitness is (which is objectively not true). Now we have people who have no business wearing skimpy clothes hanging out for all to see.

Not the Houston Chronicle.
It's the kiddie version of the local paper. Still owned by Hearst, but completely different entity. Entirely online for a much different demographic.

I see gross fat women of all colors in those photos.
Why is it (some) blacks can never just accept requirement or a guideline without immediately crying racism?
