Cesar Chavez, come on down. You're the next to be erased from history.

Even being a Hispanic icon doesn't shield you from being eliminated without a trial or ability to defend yourself.

Cesar Chavez is disappearing across California.
Statues are coming down, street names are being stripped, and murals are being covered up in a rapid-fire backlash against the once-revered labor leader, as officials move to distance public spaces from a legacy now under scrutiny.
In San Fernando, a statue of Cesar Chavez was removed Thursday, while at Santa Ana College, murals and other campus imagery bearing his likeness have been covered. In Fresno, city leaders unanimously voted to strip Chavez’s name from a major boulevard, restoring its original designation, a dramatic reversal of a tribute that once symbolized pride in the civil rights icon.
Symbols that once cemented Chavez’s status as a civil rights hero are being dismantled piece by piece.
From city halls to college campuses, what was once celebrated in bronze, painted on walls, and stamped onto street signs is now under review, with more institutions expected to follow suit.
Across the state, officials cite community concerns and public accountability as reasons for removing statues, renaming streets, and covering murals.
Reactions are mixed: some community members argue these actions erase Latino history and the progress Chavez helped inspire, while others insist the steps are necessary to prevent honoring someone whose reputation is now under serious question.
Officials say the removals and renaming are likely to continue as more local governments and school boards review monuments, murals, and street names.
California may be witnessing one of the fastest, most widespread retractions of a public legacy in recent memory, and there’s little sign it will slow down.

Might as well tear down every statue and cover every mural... oh wait.

He was outspoken against illegal immigration because it hurt the wages of actual Americans. The Leftists now finally realized this & knew he had to be cancelled & drug through the mud. Never mind that he died in 1993.

Who is he?
What did he do?
He’s already been erased from my mind.
Ooooh, the Cesar Chavez foundation has NOT edited his biography.

A true American hero, Cesar Chavez was a civil rights, Latino and farm labor leader; a genuinely religious and spiritual figure; a community organizer and social entrepreneur; a champion of militant nonviolent social change; and a crusader for the environment and consumer rights.

I wonder how much complaining OP did when the civil war monuments and names of early american white heroes were removed? History repeats because people delete history.

Don't assume anything. You know nothing about me but since you ask, I am not in favor of erasing those figures either. Everyone deserves the chance to defend themselves or be defended against accusations.

WTF does that mean? Such an idiotic contradictory statement.

Nowadays, it rarely is mentioned by the progressive left that Chavez was a vigorous opposition of illegal immigration:
“We don’t want Mexico to export it’s poverty to us…”

I think he's being accused of diddling some young nieces in the 70s and 80s.

The left has to erase history to try and keep their charade going.

The media was willing to let the abuse slide until videos surfaced of Cesar saying illegal immigration was bad because it reduced the salary and bargaining power of those already working in America.

There was a legendary Mexican boxer of the same name. That boxer's moderately successful son had some major drug charges fairly recently.
