It’s almost like the 2 time national coach of the year has a decent idea about what he’s doing.

Someone tar this idiot

I said it the first game he pitched against Vandy he doesn't fool anybody.
And the people said well give him time, give him a few games, give him that give him this. Guess what i was right again

Same ones thought Eyanson wasn’t SEC caliber last year.

He may have to win a third one, for some of these people to catch on, just sayin.

Evans goes 7 2/3

gave up 1 run unearned
pitch 110 of the game as 96 MPH

1 walk late in the game

There’s a big difference between “Eyanson isn’t an SEC-level pitcher” and “maybe Evans should go back to being a closer because he was elite there last year.” One is idiotic projection with no basis in fact and the other has a track record behind it. There are plenty of reasonable posters here who have just been hoping to see Evans get back to last year’s form, wherever that is in the rotation.
But unless tonight was an aberration, Evans put his stamp on being the lead starter. And it’s definitely a good example of Trusting Jay being the right call the vast majority of the time.

No matter the sport this board has some of the worst takes week by week
Yet you won’t see them come back and eat crow

You say that like that isn’t more proof he should go back to the pen. Clearly that isn’t going to cut it, or whatever it was the jacklegs were saying last week.

He had one hell of a game, glad he seems to be putting it back together. The bullpen should get better over the season as well, I have faith in the staff.

First time here after a bad series? Outside of game 2, the Vandy series could have just as easily gone the other direction on the road. It's just baseball, and if anyone thought we weren't going to see some major problems this season was kidding themselves. Biggest question this year for me that I still have no answer for is the catcher. He's a borderline liability at this point, I feel like all we can do is hope he improves.
I was happy to see Yorke bang home two insurance runs, he was in a major slump. A player that unathletic who can't hit is a problem. Hopefully he finds his groove again.

The issue with Evans is consistency. Anyone arguing that he doesn’t have the talent is lying to themselves. But anyone who says he’s been at the top of his game since he’s been here is also lying to themselves. If he plays at this level the rest of the season, look out.

Hopefully he has turned a corner. The stuff is and always has been there. The question was could he make the transition from Reliever to starter. He proved last night that he can. Kept the fastball around 95 throughout rather than the 97-99 we have seen and commanded the zone. Did a great job mixing in his off-speed stuff. Looked like an SEC Friday Night guy on a Thursday!
