One night nowadays, unless mom or baby require further evaluation.

Pro tip: tell your wife and the nurses when it’s all over how much your back hurts from standing and watching the delivery and sleeping on that sofa. That goes over really well with all those in the room.
Don’t ask me how I know.

don't let the idea that it might not even be your child take over your mind

Also 2.5 days from cutting the cord. It depends on when the kid is born (0100 vs 1130, etc.) Put the hospital address in DoorDash now.
For your sanity, do NOT allow a bunch of visitors. They can come visit you after you get home. Your wife will appreciate you for it. One or two, fine.

I tried to leave out pronouns so people could assume it was from a guy. I think I messed up by giving specifics

I always planned for a bit longer as one never knows.
Congrats & good luck.
Probably the right opportunity to turn this thread into a circumcision debate now-

2.5 days on average.
No visitors. It's exhausting, feel like your hosting but you're in some shite hospital room. Our third was during COVID and we had no visitors allowed. It was a fantastic day or 2 for me and my wife we took naps together with the baby, watched TV, ordered take out. Felt like vacation.

8 days.
Low blood sugar required a stay in the NICU. She was 9 pounds, 11 ounces when she was born. The doctor in charge was a stickler that she had to surpass her birth weight by 50% before she could be released. The doctor was applying metrics for a preemie to my full term kid. When that doctor’s rotation overseeing the NICU the next one was befuddled as to why we weren’t sent home sooner. In reality it would’ve been about 3 days if we didn’t have a stickler as that doc was on that preemie birthweight thing.

2 nights with one small complication to be signed off on which added about 10 hours because it was a Saturday. Days of the week are dependent. Nurses told us the Doctors are in no hurry on the weekends. Most are on call and dealing with their own kids.

Wife worked at the hospital we delivered at - we got hooked up with the best private room. Full bed for me.
First one went to the NiCu, 3 days. My brother and cousins brought some wings and beer the day of discharge - had two tv’s on separate CFB games.

In SC they keep new first time moms like 2 days- don’t wanna send anyone home unprepared. Make you watch a lot of videos on safe to sleep, car seats and don’t shake the baby.

I had two c-sections…four nights/five days with each.
