US coffee prices are surging at a record pace:

The average price of ground roast coffee is up to a record $9.46 per pound.

In February, coffee prices jumped +30.5% YoY, and have surged +127% since January 2020.

Over the same period, ground beef prices have risen +73% to $6.74 per pound, near an all-time high.

Furthermore, steak prices have soared +66% to a record $12.74 per pound.

Overall, the "food at home" category price level is up +31% while "food away from home" is up +36% since January 2020.

Food inflation remains a major issue

This is not close to being “news”. The price of those two things has been surging for quite some time.

It seems like corporations use any excuse available to raise prices these days.

Or what? You'll vote the other side in to make it worse?

Except that there was a leveling off in between. Is the newer surge not newsworthy?

The midterms have been decided for months now.

A small group of voters think otherwise.

This will garner some really pissed off people here, mostly because they know it’s true, but midterms are blue and it won’t be close. And your president in 2036 will be James Talarico.

Oh yeah, why don't you just stop eating and drinking if you don't want to pay higher prices, libtard?!

Beef is at least 3-4 years away from a fix, d/t the massive cattle herd culling during the previous administration. By Jan 2025, we were left with the lowest cattle count per capita since the 19th century. It takes years to rebuild a herd.

I have been buying the same community coffee bag for many years now. I've never paid over $9 for it.

Thanks for reminding me the news in this country is still stupid 95% of the time.

Rouses ad today for CC - $6.99

Which was why I was curious as to why Trump was touting his beef deal with... I think it was Argentina? Or Australia? Regardless, someone who used to not buy our beef was going to start, and that didn't seem great for our domestic pricing

They'll probably remove beef from the CPI and replace it with sardines or something cheap. Got to keep that inflation rate down somehow.

My man here posts an ad for a $6.99 12oz bag as evidence against a "record $9.46 per pound" and has the audacity to call people stupid

By the way, 12oz at $6.99 is $.05825 per oz, or $9.32 per pound

Correct, but it's a shame that the country is so fickle. Putting dems back in isn't going to solve anything.
