It's the best & most comprehensive explanation of what we're fighting.

Just know if you are a devout Catholic the Zionists hate you. Never forget what Israel did to the only Catholic Church in Gaza.

Cruz is an idiot. Glenn Beck thought Cruz was the chosen in Mormon prophecy.

Trad Catholics being attacked is so Cruzy crazy.

If anyone is under the impression that dislike of Cruz means Tucker, MTG and Candy WILL BE President VP and AG.

I knew the neocons v. normal people would eventually cause ripples, but I did not have "Evangelicals v. Catholics" on my Bingo card

Oh, it's been a something that has been lurking under the surface for a while. Catholics have started to have enough of their dispensationalist b.s. and the political Christianity.

Religion that doesn’t inform politics is a club membership.

Yeah, it’s getting old. Catholics don’t believe in any chosen race or religion. We are all children of God.

Sounds like Catholic conspiracy against other Christians if we use the reasoning of the OP.

Protestants give Catholics way too much energy in a never ending effort to legitimize their own religion don’t they? It’s almost as if Protestantism can’t be good unless the religion they are derived from is not only wrong, but evil.

That linked article is a complete load of horseshite.

Even if there are people who believe some of those things, they have zero political power so it's just jousting at windmills. (and I am Catholic)

This part of the explanation is informative.
quote:

You cannot dismantle evangelical political power without first delegitimizing evangelical theology. The movement’s entire political architecture rests on a theological claim: that God made an eternal, unconditional covenant with the Jewish people, that the modern state of Israel is a fulfillment of biblical prophecy, and that Christians who “bless Israel” are obeying a direct divine command. Remove that conviction and you remove the moral engine that has driven evangelical political engagement for half a century.
It explains why Ted Cruz entered Congress with the stated intention “to be the leading defender of Israel in the U.S. Senate”.

How many members of Congress do we have that believe blessing Israel is a divine command?

This is not the position of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. It is not the position of Pope Francis. It is the position of a small but highly credentialed group of academic theorists — Vermeule, Ahmari, Deneen, Pappin — who have spent the last decade building intellectual infrastructure and who are quite explicit about their goal of replacing the Protestant liberal constitutional order that America was founded on.

I did. Catholicism is growing rapidly relative to every Christian denomination, among gen Z. Young men are tired of religions that wring their hands and stand for nothing. They want ritual, community, a mission, and to belong to something bigger than themselves. While the Catholic clergy has gone increasingly woke (especially on immigration via USAID money through Catholic NGOs), the trad Catholics are among the least woke groups in the Western World.

The protestants are seeing their daughters abandoning religion for self-worship to shed accountability while their sons return to the father faith in search of substance. It is only predictable and natural that the aging evangelicals would eventually react.

This isn’t true of non-dispensational evangelicalism. The two churches I’ve attended within the past twenty years, both technically megachurches, haven’t breathed a word about modern Israel in a theological context. And they’re not aberrations. 80% of Evangelical churches are covenant theology.

Catholic means "universal". Literally.

If there's any group that is positioned to bring about major political change, it's highly credentialed academic theorists.
