The stats honestly don’t make the case, at least clearly.

NIL support is in LSU’s favor, but other criteria is more murky.

This is just my opinion.

LSU is a bigger National Brand, but that might be it.

It should be but due to poor administrative decisions for decades it isn’t currently

This. LSU as a brand is much bigger than NC State, but basketball wise... lol

No.

NC State won 2 championships during the era of LSU Basketball glory days (2 final fours, 13 NCAAT appearances w/ Dale Brown)

They made the final 4 two years ago & they’ve made the tournament 9 times in the last 20 years compared to 6 for LSU.

They also play in a much nicer Arena

The only negative thing is they are currently the 3rd best team in the state

NC State, better program over last 50 years and had to compete in the glory years of ACC. Would be a huge steal to get him back from there.

Depends on a lot of factors that may be different for different coaches.

Relationship with admin and donors goes a long way.

No, they are a much better program.

But who cares. If LSU wants to surpass NC state in men's basketball in the current age, the only thing stopping LSU is LSU.

We just gave two football coaches 100 million dollars. NC state probably can't even phantom that kind of spending. We just don't have an Athletic department that cares about basketball.

No but it could be. The athletic department treats men's basketball like the redheaded stepchild since Skip rose up while Dale fell off.

Came here to say that although that is slightly misleading because the 2 better teams are UNC and DUKE

LSU has just not had institutional comittment to basketball since Dale Brown was coaching. A new arena and a good young coach to sell the program.

LSU basketball is not better than any division I job because all of the Division I programs (with the sole exception of LSU) actually have standards.

LSU basketball is a “play for fun” program only.

We don’t spend more than NC State on NIL for basketball.

According to a couple if quick google searches NC St invested 4 million on their roster. Same search said LSU spent 8-10 million.

LSU doesn’t have 2 historically top 5 programs within 30 minutes distance. NC State is firmly 3rd in that triangle when it comes to acquiring talent.
