Israeli F-35 shoots down Iranian fighter jet in historic first for aircraft type

Primarily a trainer…the YAK-130 is far from a worthy adversary to a 5th gen fighter. But this is still a big milestone for the American-built F-35.

A Yak-130 isnt really a fighter. Its a subsonic trainer that's sometimes pressed into lite strike service. A Korean war Saber Jet could have shot it down.

FWIW you can buy a Yak-130 in the civilian market. Wouldn’t recommend flying it in a few select areas at the moment though.

Used to be a place near Gadsden called International Jets that sold rebuilt/refurbished Yaks and other retired military airctaft to the general public

I don't like the word dogfight in this instance. If a f35 gets into a true dogfight, something went terribly wrong. More like the guy was cruising and then sent to god in the blink of an eye.
