We have significant assets, people, and bases all over the Middle East. I think everyone agrees with that.

I heard a few times last week and again today that Israel was going to do this with or without us. So our option was to wait for the inevitable attack on our ME bases, or just tag along with Israel and be preemptive.

Could we have stopped Israel?

I don't have a strong opinion either way on whether this was the right thing, or the right time, and I certainly don't have an opinion on how it's gonna end. Sometimes a question is just a question.

Was Israel going to go at it alone? And could we have stopped them?

This should have been done forty years ago.

It would have been an interesting scenario back during the Iraq war if the US and it's allies had went ahead and moved on Iran, particularly after the US learned it was Iran who was the biggest thorn in our side.

I don't necessarily disagree. But it wasn't done 40 yrs ago. It was done (or started) this weekend.

I'm asking if we really had any other option if Israel was going to go in with or without us. If they did, our bases were still going to be attacked.

We spent three weeks sending all sorts of assets to the ME. Those weeks could have been spent pulling the assets already there out of harm’s way.

Let Israel fight its own war.

People like you are why this country is f*cked. We don’t need any more military action for Israel’s benefit. Let them fight their own wars.

no we did not. Israel told us we had to, so we did it.

Yes, that would have been an option.

Then our bases and whatever else we left behind gets destroyed. Would that have been acceptable? Or only then should we have attacked?

We aren't the only country here. We are part of a greater globe.

Iran having nuclear weapons is dangerous to everyone, including Russia and China.

Iran has been directing terrorist proxies across the globe for decades.

Imagine if those terrorists had nuclear weapons.

Imagine if Iran had 20,000 missiles and 1000 launchers. And they then decided to make nuclear weapons. Those missiles could overcome any defensive system and the results would've been awful. So bad at that point that they would be protected from stopping nuclear enrichment.

That country can't have nuclear weapons or ballistic missiles. If we wait too long they will have both. And that doesn't just frick Israel, it fricks the world.

This is not Israel's problem alone. This is the entire world's problem.

Oh frick off. Iran has been the largest state sponsor of terrorism since 1979. They have consistently allied with China and Russia against US interests. I don't care about Israel or Israeli interests, unless they align with US interests. Allowing these tin pot dictatorships to exist and actively undermine our interests and kill American military personnel and citizens should never have happened.

Of course we had a choice and made the right one. Making the wrong one for 40+ years has been catastrophic for the entire west.

The US Israeli duo is pretty bad arse. American skill and equipment combined with Israeli intelligence and special forces is the baddest fighting force the world has ever seen. Took out 47 of the top Iranian leaders in 2 days.

This was started 47 years ago. Iran has told us repeatedly they are at war with us. They have killed our soldiers, maimed others, tried to assasinate our President, they have bombed our embassies and attacked shipping.

We have finally struck back.

There is always a choice. But I believe we chose wisely.

The US has bases all over the world. If bases being under a threat is justification for military action, then the US has a green light whenever it wants to.

They turned down US offer to supply them with FREE nuclear energy. Also admitted in negotiations to having enough enriched material to make 11 nuclear weapons. After 40+ years of yelling death to America, I believe it was long past due
