I’ll be in New Orleans next weekend with my 2 year old son and want to let him enjoy some beignets.

I haven’t been since pre-covid, but back then you could grab a table and get a waiter to cheat the line. Is that a thing again?

Yep. Walk around back if you don't want Karen's getting all mad because they don't know the rules.

City park location is better but doesn't have the tourist vibe.

It's not cheating. The line is for take out. The servers don't really even work there. They work for tips.

Just sit at a dirty table when one comes available. They will come clean it and take your order.

If you have a 2yo and the aquarium is on your itinerary, just go to the CDM in the Riverwalk mall.

This is no longer true.

Well, they are employees. They still do mainly work for tips but that is true everywhere.

City Park location will be closed next weekend for a private event. I was just there yesterday.
You can walk into the inside area where they make the coffee and beignets in the French Quarter location and always find a table available. The tourists don’t even know about that area.

If the line is long, I’d work my way inside, take a seat at a table. They’ll come to you, collect your order…

As much as I like Cafe du Monde's beignets, I believe Loretta's taste better.

For someone that young, maybe take him to the one in City Park behind the art museum. Maybe walk around the magic sculpture garden. I prefer a park day anyway.

It makes me irrationally angry that the French Quarter one is no longer 24 hours and actually closes every night by midnight, and earlier during the week.

I actually didn’t realize that. In Austin, there’s almost nothing open 24 hours anymore
