Get ready—tonight, February 28, 2026, is the peak of a rare "planetary parade" featuring six planets stretching across the evening sky.
Quick Guide to the 6-Planet Parade
The Lineup
Mercury, Venus, Saturn, Neptune, Uranus, and Jupiter.
Best Time
30 to 60 minutes after sunset. After this, the lower planets (Mercury, Venus, Saturn) will dip below the horizon.
Direction
Face West/Southwest to see the main cluster. The planets follow the ecliptic, the same curved path the Sun takes during the day.
Tips for Best Viewing
Find a Clear Horizon
You need an unobstructed view of the western horizon (no trees or buildings) to see the planets lowest to the ground.
Avoid Light Pollution
While the brightest planets are visible from cities, a darker sky will help you spot Mercury and the outer giants.
Use an App
Tools like Star Walk 2 or Stellarium can help you point exactly where each planet is located in real-time.
Bonus Sight
Look for Jupiter near the almost full Moon in the southeast for a stunning pairing.

Will this be better than video of archeologist finding some sharp rocks in Texas?
Kidding.
Kidding.

So you're telling me Mars just decided to take PTO tonight?

You’re not going to see Youranus or Neptune with the naked eye

Spoiler alert: they look just like all the other stars. Tiny points of light just sitting there.

That light took a while to get here.
Moving at speed of light ain’t what it used to be.

Not with a legit telescope. But for most of us, thankfully yes.

We used the StarTracker app earlier. It was pretty cool.

Nobody talks about poor ol' Neptune. Nice to see it for a change
