On the flip side of Sonny Styles, Ruben Bain is off my list.

At 30-7/8 his arms are too short for a top 10 pick.

Saints play a 3-4 Defense.

He has too short of arms to play 3-4 DE, and has too few of moves/Quickness to play 3-4 OLB/Edge.

He can maybe be a good 4-3 DE, but Saints need to pass in him at 8.

I would have on defense these players as the top 5.

Reese
Bailey
Downs
Delaine
Styles

Removing a player bc of measurables when he was a top five talent 24 hours ago is stupid

Glad you aren’t a gm

Bain is a bit of an anomaly. You aren’t a gm and that’s obvious but he does have short arms. Alarmingly short arms. Then you look at his other measurables. Hes 6’2 and came in at 262 lbs. He’s built like a tank. He’s also a master technician. You also look at how he played against the best competition last year and he absolutely dominated people. He’s going to slip and I’m not sure the saints would draft him but this arm thing is a bit overblown imo.

My bigger concern is his performance during the year. During the season he did little and wasn’t much of a factor in games I watched. Then he dominated against aTm and tOSU. Then he disappeared in the Ole Miss game and was just okay against Indiana. That plus his measurables is why I’m out.

A lot of GM’s moved Terrell Suggs way down their list because he ran a bad 40 time. How did that work out?

Will Campbell had short arms and went top 4. No way Bain makes it out of the top 5

You just didn’t watch enough of him. Also, he had the flu against ole Miss. That was well known before the game even started. And he did okay against Indiana? 8 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, 1 sack. Yeah, an okay game. It’s fine if you don’t like the player but Jesus.

I said he could still be a good 4-3 DE. I just think he could get manhandled by interior linemen as a 3-4 DE.

Bailey, Reese, and Styles can all fill the edge/OLB position.

If he’s there at 8, I’m taking him if the other edge guys are off the board.

I care more about tape than measurables and workout warriors.

Had this same argument on here about Brian Branch b/c he tested bad and his RAS score was bad and when the saints passed on him for Fosky who had an elite level RAS score….. We know the results of that outcome now…

Staley isn’t running a 2 gap system so his edges aren’t really dropping in coverage. You also see him utilize 4 dlineman. What you see Fangio run in Philly is what the ideal edge dline you would ideally have here. Bain wouldn’t be lined up over a guard or really dropping into coverage.

IF we draft him, it's certainly not to play 3-4 end. He'd be playing OLB/Edge, and Young, Granderson, and Jordan all played fine in that role last year being as big or bigger.

Seems like he would just play Cams role last year. The standup edge opposite Young. There are also coaches that believe his best position would be at DT. He manhandles tackles and he’s to quick for guards. Coukd move him all over on defense on passing downs.

Apparently, you don't watch games, you watched 30 minutes of the NFL Combine and ran to the board to give us your analysis. Bain dominated college football the entire year. Bailey was good but I only heard about him during the CFP. The Rodriguez kid was the headliner on the defense overshadowing Bailey. Downs, Reese and Styles are good but every time I watched OSU, they didn't stand out even though the broadcasters kept mentioning their names. Don't watch highlights, watch the entire game. I wasn't impressed with their production. They are fast guys that will be good at the next level, but they are not game wreckers like Bain. I like Delane but I'm not picking him, he doesn't travel. I want my CB to cover the best WR.
