No worries as he will be long gone by 8.

We had Trey Hendrickson on our team. They called him “T rex”. Guess why he got that name?

A lot of GM’s moved Terrell Suggs way down their list because he ran a bad 40 time. How did that work out?

Suggs ran a 4.84, which is slower than ideal but still within the acceptable range

To put Bain's arms in terms of a 40, it would be like Suggs running a 5.5 or worse, or a WR running a 5.0, etc. We're not talking about a less than ideal variable, or even a bad one...this is basically unprecedented.

And the thing with Bain is he doesn't have some super-plus attribute that can mask this outlier status. He's not some twitchy super athlete. He was so scared of his athleticism testing that he skipped it at the combine, and he's not a prospect who should be able to afford that.

Will Campbell had short arms and went top 4.

Again, like my post above...Campbell had short arms but they were still 2 inches longer than Bain's. If Bain had 32 ? " arms like Campbell, he'd be in a much better place. That's comparable to the Suggs 4.84 40 time.

Correct. <31 is an extreme outlier but nobody wants to hear it around here

He’s off my board and I’m selecting a top player at a different position if I’m loomis

Production is great but you need a baseline on measurables otherwise it’s not worth the risk when top guys in the entire draft may be available

That's why I keep trying to convert it into a 40 time for conceptual reasons.

People don't understand just how disqualifying those arms are, and what low of a % of success it creates.

And there is nothing else freakish about him to even make up or it.

Curious what you don’t like about styles? He might be the most impactful and versatile player we can add and would be a perfect fit in the 3-4. Besides lighting the combine on fire and proving he an absolute athletic anomaly, what did you not like? He was super productive in college so he isn’t just a combine guy.

And his were still a little over 32”……that is a pretty big difference.

Look, this MAY end up being a nothing burger regarding his arm length……but they don’t just measure your arm length for shits and giggles.

What I worry about with him is that he is built in a way that he may outgrow being a stand up Outside rusher.

The positive for him is that his motor is RELENTLESS and by all accounts he absolutely LOVES the game (even stating that he doesn’t have or want hobbies).

With all of that said, it looks as though we have something in Moore as a HC……and the roster is starting to trend in the right direction. Do we really want to draft someone with a TOP TEN PICK who may have a high ceiling…..but also has a high bust potential. Him being a bust would be a MAJOR setback.

Short arms is a clear disadvantage at the position just as long arms provides a clear competitive advantage. Doesn’t mean he won’t be a good player but will need to overcome the limitation against nfl talent. I have played against defensive ends with super long arms that felt unblockable. It is not the end all be all but it makes a difference in both run and pass game.

I was out on Bain when I heard the following fact:
No defensive lineman with his arm measurements has gotten 10+ sacks in a season since 1998!
Maybe he’s an anomaly that breaks the 27 year streak….but do you want to gamble a top 10 pick on that possibility? I don’t.

Yeah I’ve been pretty anti Bain in a lot of threads and ruffled some feathers and while I don’t think he’s a God awful pick I think he’s a guy that comes in and just sorta blends in. I don’t see him being the game changer/ o line wrecking crew that a lot of posters here anticipate. I’m starting to think we end up with Styles or Love at 8. I feel like one of those two fall to us and I think if somehow they’re both available we would go Styles. Saints jerk off to RAS scores and they want that kid BIGLY with a high first round grade and a perfect RAS score.

I’d be okay with those. I’d like to get Styles as a Demario Davis replacement if he signs elsewhere.

Underhill mentioned that everyone he talked to at the Combine had no issues with Bain. In a more stacked draft, he would go top 10. He will go top 5 this year.

Yeah, Joe Burrow’s hands are too small too.
