Highest rated craft beers by state plus D.C.

Alabama hasn’t caught up to the stout’s popularity yet. It’s annoying going to a place that has a crap ton of crafts on tap in December and not one stout. Who wants a sour or a juicy IPA in the middle of winter?
Louisiana-DDH Ghost.
Alabama- Good People Hitch Hiker IPA. This must be a seasonal, I’ve never seen it. I’m surprised it wasn’t Trim Tab IPA. It’s rated pretty high on Untappd.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the India Pale Ale was identified as the most popular style, serving as the top pick in 21 states. Just behind it, though, is the stout, which has been surging in popularity stateside in recent years, and claims the top spot in 20 states. But while some states might be split between their love for the IPA and the stout, there is one common thread: Americans love high-ABV brews. Of the 51 favorites, 28 are imperial-strength beers.

I’ve been over IPA’s for years. Ghost is pretty good, but I’m surprised it was rated as the best.

To each their own but I drink a fraction of the craft beer I once did. I prefer nice bourbon/rye these days.

To be fair DDH ghost is a notch or 2 above regular ghost

Same. I still enjoy them but trying to reduce those empty calories

Disagree with FL's.
Agree with GA's.
I generally like Good People's stuff, but I haven't had that particular one, so TBD on AL's.
I really like Toppling Goliath's beers, and I think they have far better choices under that banner. That said, IA is lucky to have them.
I don't have enough frame of reference to assess the rest.

Good to see Southern Prohibition getting recognition. They've been putting out good stuff for a long time now. Crowd Control and Fire Ant are two of my favorites.

Too many calories in some of these IPAs. Likely close to 250 calories per serving. Also, anything more than 7.5% ABV is too much for a beer.

Yep. These 4 packs of 8.5% Double IPAs that cost $28+ just isn’t feasible.
I feel way too full and bloated after one. In terms of drinking beer, I like to have a few … a few of those big, boozy IPAs just gets me too drunk and leaves with a pretty tough hangover (and considerable GI issues….).

La Cumbre puts out 4 - 5 different variants per year so not really seeing that as a singular best beer in NM.

But Project Dank has been finger licking delicious in each variant, at least all the ones I've had.

Paradise Lost is my favorite by SPB but haven’t seen it in a while.

Imperial stouts are so 2010ish, and I never cared for IPAs. I don't drink a lot of beer these days, but when I do, it's usually a crisp pilsner, like Peroni, Bitburger, or Stella, maybe a Modela Especial or a Pacifico. I like the NA versions of these too, if I can find them.
Now, if there is a Guinness on tap...I may get that.

And nearly all of the stouts and porters are Imperial.

I agree with the Crowd Control for Mississippi

Trimtab has fallen off. I got a citra singularity from them a few years ago that blew me away. Was on par with ddh ghost for me, but everything I have had from them since then isn't that great. Last time I had it the beers were overly carbonated and I haven't tried again since then.

It has been in grocery stores around Birmingham for a while. I prefer the Hazy Snake, but Hitch Hiker is pretty good too. Their Coffee Oatmeal Stout is good too.
