Interesting nugget per Jacques Doucet.

Still absolutely bullish on this squad!

Will depend on quality of starting pitching and ability to hit LHP in league play.

We can't lose to McNeese and be a national champion! No college baseball team has ever done anything like that! I guess we're done, see you next year.

kidding of course. didn't we get run ruled by northwestern late in the year last year? this team has plenty of time to rebound from last night's loss. learn from it and move on. go win the rest of the games this week and keep the momentum as schedule gets closer to sec play.

Member ‘09?

I do, lost to ULL, Tulane, Nichols - good enough for 4th in state, but first in the nation! lol

(Also, a terrible early season home series loss to Illinois).

Skip the GOAT lost twice to McNeese in 2000.

I'm kidding, of course. Jay learned from Skip to not be afraid to lose a game like this, in order to know who you can trust in the future. The team will learn a lot from this.

Not sure how a meaningless early season loss elicits a response like that, as if there is a need for reassurance.

That wasn’t really the point, I just threw that in there.

The point was the average record of the title squads, which I thought was legitimately interesting.

I get that these happen every year but it never gets any less irritating for me. McNeese had no business being on the same field with LSU.

1991 LSU lost to McNeese 3-6 and won NC#1

1993 LSU lost to McNeese 3-5 and won NC#2

2000 LSU lost to McNeese 8-9 and won NC#5

So you’re saying 4 out of our first 9 natty teams have lost to McNeese? Pretty wild when you think about it.

Still? After a midweek loss to an instate team had you questioning this team until you saw this stat?

No. Again, that wasn’t the point. I just threw it in there.

The point was the factoid.
