Also, besides 350. What is the cost of krewes dues and how much do you spend on throws?

You'll need a front load garage on the northshore and a timeshare in Disney or Destin.

Let's just say you don't have to be a blue blood to get in. A pulse and check that does not bounce qualifies you.

I would like to join and talking to other members, Its about $3500 and that does include some throws. Some people spend another $1k-$2k on throws.

Need a Tahoe with a 30A sticker

Riding on the signature floats costs more

But it’s very much cut a check and ride. Not pretentious at all.

If somebody in Endymion is getting by with spending 2K on throws, they should probably get out. 5k on throws is on the low end.
Been there, done that, had a great time, but after a few years the value just wasn’t there for me.

Go make a blood sacrifice at the foot of the Ed Muniz statue and the appropriate person will find you.

I don’t think it’s that great to ride. I’d rather spend the money on a Bourbon Street balcony and nice hotel.

It’s a little over $2000 in fees plus another $1500 or so for throws. Whoever paid $3500 was getting skimmed for $1500. I’m told there is a waiting list to join.

You got to know somebody. They have to be tight enough with their float Lt. to get you on. That’s about it.

Same is true if most of the parading krewes that are of any value/esteem.

You have to know someone in the krewe. There is a sponsorship form you fill out (from the member) and will need their member number. You submit the form and a check. They will stick you in a random float if you get in. You can apply to ride on friends float, definitely not guaranteed. It’s about 2k, that includes a small amount of krewe throws. You buy everything else you want to throw. You will also have like a $500 initiation fee.

You’re better off making friends with members and ride as a sub. That’s what I did one year with my father in law.

If you’re from out of town like me, it’ll be $1500 if I remember correctly, spent about $2500 on throws and the hotel for three nights was around $1000. So $5k all in but you scratch the itch and do it again when you want to if you don’t burn the bridge.

I’d highly recommend that route versus trying to become a member unless you want to get sub spots for customers.

Edit: as someone said above, $2,000 to get on the float sounds more familiar than $1,500.

It’s not terrible for a bucket list item.

My basic dues are in the $2,000 per year range. I have to pay a little extra because I am on what is considered one of the specialty floats. This includes several bags of specialty throws and two tickets to the Extravaganza and the Coronation Ball.
I spend about $600 more on parade day for pre parade activities and upgraded Extravaganza tickets.
As far as additional throws, I disagree with the statement above that spending $2000 is being a cheapskate.

How do you join?
It helps to know someone with pull, but you can go to the office in Beads by the Dozen on Edwards Avenue in Elmwood and put your name on the list.
